I was not happy with this airbnb review and would not recommend it. I do not like to leave poor reviews but feel like I owe it to the airbnb community. I only met Dana for a few minutes and she appeared nice, and I have no doubt that the rave reviews other have given about her personally are true. I also do not question their positive reviews in general, but will just say that was not my experience.
First, while it is a somewhat long story, I was locked out of the apartment after I had already checked in and hung out for a little while, but after I went out for some food, because people (not Dana) who were supposed to leave the key for me in a certain place forgot to do so. UNtil that was resolved I had to sit on a bench in front of place in 90 degree heat at 11:30 at night for 20 minutes or so while that was resolved. OK, things happen.
The towels left for me, on a lamp post, were visibly dirty, and smelled from mildew.
There were no bedsheets on the bed. I texted her about that and was told that clean ones were on the white desk in the room, just out of the laundry. Except that there was no white desk, except for one that had been completely disassembled, and there were no sheets on it anyway. She eventually came home, sort of acknowledged that she made a mistake and the sheets were not ready, but told me I could use the mattress cover. Obviously, mattress covers are not nearly as comfortable as actual bedsheets, plus, this one smelled too. It smelled like it had not been clean in a very long time...which does make sense because most people don't clean mattress pads very often -- that, and comfort, is why people use bedsheets.
Some of these issues may seem minor, but when you have had a long day at work . . .
On the positive, excellent air conditioning, and the room is huge.
I think that Dana was just not ready to have a renter that evening .... she probably meant to clean the sheets and towels but didn't have time. I can't believe that she would have all the positive reviews she has if it was like this ordinarily. So, I will chalk it up to her having a bad host day experience.
