30-40 min to Manhattan, including a 8 min walk to the nearest metro station woodhaven Blvd (R/M). The trick is to switch to express trains E/F after 3 stops at Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Ave to all major stations in Manhattan. This is a big beautiful traditional American house in a residential area, different restaurants and groceries with walking distance, convenient and reasonably priced, very safe too.
ONLY for quiet easygoing guests who close doors and walk gently! And who DON'T expect hotel service! This is a house people live in, not a 5 star hotel or a house on display, so if you're expecting spotless clean 24/7 and hotel service please don't book the room.
This room is on 2/F of the house, it isn't very large (I have a bigger room next to it: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/17492408), but is sufficient for a short stay. It has a big window and you can see the balcony downstairs (you can use it too) and other houses and trees. It's very bright in the morning but I have thick curtains so you can sleep till as late as you feel like.
This is an area where lots of Russians, Latinos and Chinese live so you can get authentic food from those places apart from American food. A fruit stand at the exit of the metro station and many groceries with a large selection and great price within 10 min walk on your way to another station (63rd drive) that's 15 min walk, you'll not lack good food and fruit and pay much less than Manhattan. A wine store 3 min walk and many nearby if you want to taste the diverse selection from all over the world. Pharmacies 3 min walk in case you need anything. Queens' largest shopping mall 12 min walk if you need to shop. I offer free coffee and tea, I have lots of Chinese and Japanese tea if you wanna try (I have cute mugs too:)
Please search how to get here by yourself instead of asking me, I can only give you the info from Gxxglx map. You can easily get any info there, I'm not a hotel front desk whose job to answer your questions 24/7, but I'm happy to help if you can't find something online.
Wear slippers instead of walking barefoot at home, footsteps can be loud on the hard wood floor even with socks. There are people who live on 2/F and in the basement, so sleepers between 11pm and 10am is a MUST. If you don't plan to wear slippers then don't book the room.
Keep quiet between 11pm and 10am, walk slowly and quietly, gently close the doors, put down the toilet seat, don't set your alarm audible on the whole floor.
Maximize your shower time to 20 min, there are others who need to use the bathroom.
No heavy cooking allowed. Wash the everything you use within 24 hours, dump the food residue in the sink to the trash can (most guests who cooked left something dirty here or there so I prefer if you don't cook unless you can clean everything THOROUGHLY otherwise you just create more work for me). This kitchen is used daily, and if you find dishes in the sink or bags of food on the surfaces too much for you please find another place, kitchen shouldn't be your reason for complaint in the rating, it's not included in the listing and I only let you in as a gesture of hospitality.
Take your trash outside if you have more than one bag, there are regular trash and recycles outside the house.
Please keep in mind that this is not a hotel and I'm not you staff or servant, if you stay you need to respect the house rules.
