This gracious home and expansive lawns offer tranquility and privacy in a beautifully landscaped natural setting overlook our lovely horse farm in a quiet rural neighborhood, away from city bustle for clients and guests. Minutes from all area attractions- CT Wine and Antiques trails, Watch Hill and RI Beaches, Mystic Seaport and Aquarium, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos, and I-95 and I-395 corridors. This is our largest room, with a full wall of views of the patio, gardens and pastures.
Bibliophile, writer, artist, or sportsman's retreat. The home is an elegant Maryland-Style Farmhouse with a gracious foyer as you enter leading to the Fireplaced Library and Patio where guests may enjoy coffee and breakfast in the am. Toaster, Microwave, and Keurig always ready in the library, with a small selection of breakfast offerings. Best Breakfast EVER is 1.4 miles down the road at Somewhere in Time, and they can also pack you a wonderful picnic lunch. In the winter, you may request a fire to be built in the Library for your evening enjoyment (BYOB) and use the large-screen TV or listen to music unless we are hosting an event. This bedroom is our largest guest room (24 x 24), furnished with antiques and with Queen sized bed. It has direct access to the back patio and a full wall of windows (Draped for privacy when needed) overlooking the farm. Sunshine abounds in the mornings. Original art by Maui Artist Taryn Alessandro (our daughter), an en-suite private bath and keyed entry, sofa, desk and chair, wifi, coffee pot, ironing board/ iron, hairdryer, extra linens, A/C or fan; housekeeping supplies are available in the closet in the bedroom wing hall. Guests are welcome to enjoy the outdoor "Cowboy Kitchen" with charcoal and gas grills (This is the only area where smoking is allowed) Occasional use of huge gourmet kitchen with 6 burner Wolf range, extra large ovens and griddle plus ample counter space is permitted by special request. Artists may enjoy our equine-friendly art studio (available on request) or work in plein-air at any time. Cable TV is available in Library except when special events are hosted there. WiFi access at "FARM GUEST." NOT Wheelchair accessible- there are 3 stairs at the front entry and 3 steps down to the bedroom wing and Library. We supply coolers, beach chairs, boogey boards and towels for beach goers, ASTM-SEI approved helmets for riders. Extra guests in the room require prior permission from hosts and may use the couch or air mattress, extra fees apply.
This is a full-time working farm and there may be horses, riders, and volunteers around the facility at almost any time. We have 3 working cats (Not allowed in the bedroom wing) and a small, hypo-allergenic, opinionated, but friendly Therapy dog-in-training (Mini Schnauzer Bert) on site- please do not reward him for bad behavior by petting him when he barks or jumps! We use a Kirby vacuum and hepa filters to minimize dander, however if you have severe cat allergies please bring benadryl or other allergy remedies just in case.
On Tuesday nights we may host Guest Chefs, Artists, Musicians or Speakers and we have several weekend events and/or retreats scheduled throughout the year. BNB guests are welcome to participate with a reservation based upon availability.
Our Main Administrative office is sited just beyond the Foyer- staff may or may not be immediately at hand.
In addition to optional participation in our various Volunteer or Ecotourism weekend vacations, workshops, lectures, clinics and events, a private farm tour may be arranged on Sunday morning or by appointment outside of program hours, or a trail ride through Jovian Equestrian which operates on-site on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. We can accommodate meetings, gatherings, or conferences for up to 30 people in our Library/ Conference room.
All proceeds support Horses Healing Humans Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit serving people with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges.

Guests park right at the lovely arched brick front entrance. Your stay includes access to Library/ Breakfast Room, Lawns and Patio. Fees for workshops, clinics, and events are additional. Please respect Private and Business use areas. During non-program hours you may use the sensory trail system to hike or the art studio- please advise if you plan to be on the trails. Volunteer Vacation- Arrive Friday night for Volunteer training- learn about Equine Therapies for people with various disabilities and challenges, and the ways we assist them. Assist with mounted or unmounted programs or facilities/ gardening projects on Saturday from 10-2 pm, afternoon and evening on your own to enjoy our beautiful natural environment and surrounding community. Sunday morning is a lovely time to relax and process your experience before heading back out to area amenities.
Ecotourism Weekend- spend a relaxing day or two learning and practicing organic gardening and composting techniques, how to build a "Pasture Paradise" or PT paddock, trail building and maintenance, conservation methods. Ecotourism is now defined as "responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment, sustains the well-being of the local people, and involves interpretation and education" (TIES, 2015). Education is meant to be inclusive of both staff and guests.
Hosts Jim and Lee live and work on-site. Outside of scheduled workshops we allow guests maximum privacy, and are happy to make recommendations and give directions to area attractions to enjoy during your free time!
