Our place is a recently rehabbed, fully updated 2 bedroom flat in a 3 floor grey stone with secure entry. Nice new wood floors throughout unit, kitchen includes marble counter tops, a breakfast nook, and is fully loaded with all the gadgets. Tons of natural light since we're on the 3rd floor. Bathroom offers tub/shower combo and we have free on site laundry as well as free on street parking. We also have the sweetest dog in the world named Mila (see photos section).
We're on the third floor and there is no elevator so take that into consideration if you have limited mobility. Your private room is furnished with a futon, dresser, small flat screen TV with mirror capabilities to plug a laptop into. Amazing amount of natural light and a ceiling fan/chandelier combo with a roomy closet that includes shelf and spot to hang clothes. Room itself is about 12x10' sq. ft. and has a lock that can be locked while you're in the room.
Guests can access the kitchen and all utensils. Corey is a chef so most kitchen utensils are available. There is also a coffee maker, coffee grinder, microwave, stove, dishwasher, fridge with ice dispenser and filtered water, freezer, blender, toaster. Breakfast nook has a 4 seated table for dining and more of that great natural light we've been raving about.
We're both artistic, music lovers, teachers (art and yoga) and enjoy movies so we have a stereo with a turntable, 32 inch roku smart TV with basic cable, showtime, netflix (chill part is on you), HBOgo, and a bunch of other streaming channels that we've never had a chance to watch and you'll probably care less about because Chicago has many other far more interesting things to do. WIFI is 30 mbs which we've found is plenty enough for taking over the world from our laptops.
We want you to enjoy your stay and understand you're traveling so guests are welcome to enjoy coffee or tea during their stay; condiments can be used and if you need something ask and we can most likely get your back on it unless it's the last beer or cookie then you're TSOL. If you're in the right place at the right time, you might catch a free meal.
You can expect a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of art on the walls, an eclectic music collection, plenty of those ancient things known as books, and maybe a philosophical conversation over a cup of coffee or a beer. We are lovers of life and art with an appreciation for the open minded, creative and unique patchwork of humans and experiences that make life worth living. Don't worry though, we aren't the artsy fartsy hyper intellectuals oozing with pretension that you just might have pictured based on that last part so don't size us up just yet.
We're perfectly cool with people occupying common areas just keep in mind it's still our place and we live here full time! There is free onsite laundry which is shared with the building. We also might be able to provide a bike or skateboard for getting around.
*** In some instances we can accommodate extra guests as we have a queen sleeper in our living room. There is an additional charge of $50.00 per person if we are going to be home and we will consider on a case by case basis for short term situations (unless we are out of town). Contact us if this is your situation.
As mentioned we live here full time when we're not on vacation. We're a student and a self employed artist. We really do look forward to meeting our guests but there are times our schedules will conflict and we won't see you. Please feel free to contact us with any questions if we're not available on person. We want you to have an enjoyable stay. We like people and enjoy hosting from ALL WALKS OF LIFE so our goal is to provide you and your fellow travelers a place to lay your weary head and to enhance your experience while in our fine city of Chicago.
We have an Australian Sheppard named Mila. She is very friendly and loves people. She can be hyper from time to time but for the most part, she just lays there waiting to get free pets. If we aren't home, you will find her in "her room" (which is really the kitchen area with a gate put up). When we're home, she has free range of the house, besides our airbnb room. It's up to the guest if they want her in there. Please take into consideration when you're booking that we have a dog. She is a part of the family, so it's important that you will be alright with a dog in the house.
- No shoes in the house
- Clean up after yourself in shared common areas
