The only silo-based cottage in New Orleans. It's a cozy, eclectic, and romantic getaway just 10 minutes from the historic French Quarter. The cottage is in a safe, convenient, and quiet neighborhood. There's 1 full size bed in the loft, a kitchenette, bathroom, and table and chairs in the parlor. Outside there's a lovely back patio, a large front porch with comfy chairs, and a relaxing porch swing steps away under a nearby oak tree in the backyard.
We live in the neighborhood of Gentilly Terrace. We are 3 miles away (less than 10 minutes with traffic) to the French Quarter, 10 minutes to City Park and 5 minutes away to Lake Ponchatrain. We have a lovely Spanish Colonial Revival Home with the only Silo cottage in New Orleans located in our backyard. Our Silo on Spain Street is a 400 sq ft, 2 story silo cottage. It is uniquely designed and crafted with interior walls made with reclaimed clapboard, an accent cob wall and beadboard fold down table with an elevator fold up seat. The kitchen counter is beautiful Louisiana Cypress. Our Bathroom is a European style with 1940 vintage tile and stained glass which adorns the bathroom doors. The stairwell has stained glass windows from the 1950's Catholic church of St Frances Cabrini Church (New Orleans) which was demolished after Katrina. The parlor has a cafe table and chairs to have your breakfast, a trunk for your luggage to live on, and a small love seat for relaxing. The parlor and the loft have a modern quiet mini-split dual A/C and heater units. The skinny spiral staircase is compact but opens to the cozy bedroom loft which has one full size bed with lots of pillows, a dresser, coat rack and a comfy chair for relaxing. Two real ship portholes let cross air flow on windy days.
You can enter on the left side of the property through the gate with the crescent moon. There is a brick pathway to the back of the property where our silo is located. There is open patio area with wrought iron chairs and table that you can use and my great grandfathers hand made porch swing that is there for an evening of relaxation.
We live in the house in the front of the property so we will be available if you have any needs. We will be there to meet you and show you our silo. We can give you suggestions of dining, events and sightseeing.
Please keep the gate closed at all times as we have a small chihuahua who likes to get out and roam around.
There is ample parking on the street in front of our home. Please park your car facing the correct way for traffic directly in front of our house. Out of respect for our neighbors, please do not park across the street or in front of any of our neighbor's homes, especially since we have ample parking on the street in front of our house.
- Please park directly in front of our house facing the correct way with traffic (The City of New Orleans occasionally tickets for cars parked facing the wrong way.)
- No weapons

My name is Robin and my husband is Bob. We have one furry baby girl named Smidgen (you can see her in the last photo). We are both natives of New Orleans and our neighborhood - Gentilly. I am an RN and teach at a local university. Bob is a IT professional and small business owner. Smidgen is a professional comfort provider (lap dog ) and international cuteness star. I love making things, sewing, hand embroidering, knitting, crocheting and building silos. Bob is way less complicated. He loves our Saints football team, a glass of chardonnay, Jazz Fest and dining.
We are very excited to meet new people and expose them our city, our history, our culture, which is unlike anything you seen anywhere else in the world. We are travelers too, and we like the Airbnb experience when we travel so we can experience the community from a local, real and unique perspective that we can call our own.
