A traditional double shotgun, this 125 year old house was recently renovated from top to bottom. Many of the historic architectural details are still featured such as original hard wood floors and 10 to 15 ft high ceilings. You'll also enjoy modern amenities such as central heat/AC along with a full kitchen and beautifully decorated rooms that capture the spirit of New Orleans.
The Peacock Suite offers a memory foam queen size bed with a one-of-a-kind headboard crafted by a local woodworker. A victorian style writing desk and plenty of dresser and closet space for your belongings will make you feel right at home.
The living room transforms into the Mardi Gras guest room! Sleep on a comfortable full size sleeper sofa with a memory foam mattress, surrounded by Mardi Gras art, specialty parade throws (Muses shoes and Zulu coconuts) and a 42 in Smart TV with Netflix. Being a traditional layout it is common for rooms to be connected and therefore are semi-private.
A double shotgun house shares a central wall with 2 identical units on each side. I live on one side and you'll have complete access to the other house (about 700 sq ft) with you're own private entrance.
The backyard renovation is complete! The covered gazebo has a beautiful farmhouse table with plenty of seating. You're welcome to use and enjoy the space as your own (8AM-10PM). Outside is 420 friendly. Cigarette smokers, please properly dispose of butts in the bright yellow receptacle.
The laundry room and iron are also out back and available for you to use.
If there is anything I can do to make your stay more comfortable please let me know. I've been living in New Orleans for 6 years and while I've yet to experience everything this amazing city has to offer I can certainly make suggestions to accommodate your interests.
I always appreciate knowing in advance your plans for check in and check out times. The best way to reach me is through the Airbnb site!
New Orleans is an urban neighborhood and like all big cities it is smart to be aware of your surroundings, especially at night. Please use common sense when drinking and stay on busy streets. In the evening call Uber or a taxi when traveling as a safe and affordable alternative to walking.
Unless you plan to travel long distances during your stay, renting a car is not recommended. Keep in mind that there are tourist busses for plantation and swamp tours. However plenty of street parking is available if needed. As a courtesy to neighbors please only park in front of my house or directly across the street from my house.
You will likely find Uber the most cost effective way to get around town. I've found the average cost of a trip to the airport to be around $20-$30 +tip and the French Quarter (10 blocks away) is about $6-$8. This also saves you from the trouble of finding a FQ parking spot, paying for parking and eliminates the risk of drinking and driving.

Thanks for your interest in staying at The Turquoise House. After living in New Orleans for almost 6 years I finally put my roots down in the swamp. After buying and renovating a 125 year old, traditional double shotgun house (I live on the other side with my dog Mr. Zulu) I am thrilled to open my home to guests!
I run my own business as NOLA's #1 professional organizer and in the past have worked as a long-term nanny and briefly managed a local Bed and Breakfast.
I love New Orleans, music, a strong drink, food and festivals. If you're looking for suggestions while you're in town I'll gladly point you in the right direction.
