We work full time but will be available in the evenings and intermittently throughout the weekends. We live on the property full time and should be able to quickly address any concerns/questions via phone or in person. Our house is quite large at 6000 sq ft and you may not see much of us or other guests at all.q
We have two small dogs, a kitten, and a temperamental outside cat. We normally keep the indoor animals contained in the rear portion of the house which guests do not access, but you may come across them at some point during your stay if we are coming back from a walk or hanging out with them on the porch. With the exception of the outside cat, our pets will always be supervised.
Many people consider Galveston to be haunted due to the storied history of the island, particularly the hurricane in 1900 which resulted in a great loss of life. Our home is one of the oldest on the island and is actually a stop for some of the ghost tours in Galveston!
Our home was designed by Abner Cook who also designed the Texas Governor's Mansion. While our home's exterior is less ornate, there are many similarities between the two structures including the floor plan.
We have 5 rooms currently used for nightly rentals. We ask that guests be considerate to others staying in our home. Quiet time is between 11PM and 7AM. Smoking is not allowed on the property.
Early check-in or late check-out may be available depending on arrival and departure of other guests. Please check with us to confirm.
Please do not enter areas in our home marked private.
In order to help ensure peace and quiet for all of our guests we do not allow children under the age of 12.
We moved from Utah to Galveston in 2010 and purchased our current home in 2012. We have been lovingly restoring it for the past few years in our spare time. We enjoy travel, our four grown kids, our pets, thrift store shopping and antiquing, home improvement, walking on the beach, and relaxing on our porch. We look forward to sharing our home and what we love about the island with you.
