Nestled in the heart of the Southern Appalachians lies a simple, rustic escape, Once Upon A Porch. Living up to it's name with a spacious, open-air, wrap around porch which includes hammock, ping-pong, picnic, swing and rockers. From one side enjoy the view of mountain stream, and from the other see a garden with double swing, enchanting gazebo, and small community park. A short walk to High Shoals Falls and Appalachian Trail, this is the perfect base camp for any outdoor adventures.
The cabin is old-school and historic. Sometimes this may feel odd to guests as they are not as modern as your real home- no TV, no Air conditioning. Some of the furnishings are original and period in style and for that reason may be off-putting or intimidating. Enjoy the aura of Moody Hollow in the manner it has been enjoyed for a half century. Try to be careful with the aged furniture but don’t be scared to enjoy it. If any breakage occurs, please let us know so that we can get it repaired. We strive to keep everything functional but some of these rockers and tables have decades of wear. That's part of the rustic charm. Two other cabins are available if you need more guest rooms for up to 12+.

I am currently an Engineering student at Louisiana State University with a strong passion for travel and adventure. I see great importance in stepping away from the stressful routine of everyday life. My greatest adventures include a canoe trip down the Rio Grande, backpacking excursion across Grand Teton National Park and a 2600 mile Thru-hike from Mexico to Canada along the Pacific Crest Trail. Even with all these epic adventures the Southern Appalachian Mountains will always hold a special place in my heart as the destination I go to truly enjoy the art of simple living.
