PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION - This is a cozy in-law suite in the basement of our detached house, with a private keypad entrance for your exclusive use. Our neighborhood sits between Brookland and Woodridge in NE D.C. We have a popular brewpub (Public Option) down the street, an award-winning restaurant (Nido) just blocks away, and a local grocer (Good Food) around the corner as well as an awesome coffee shop (Zeke's). Bedroom has a queen-size bed. Main room has a futon. GREAT VALUE for DC.
This is a unique, newly renovated in-law suite with its own bathroom and a separate bedroom with pocket doors. The bedroom features a brand new Sealy queen bed, and you can also sleep two guests on the futon, which has recently been updated with a new mattress as well.
The space is great for two adults and can also work for up to four if you're planning on spending most of your time out and about and mainly using the suite to rest. It's also great for couples with children. Please note the bedroom has a queen-sized bed and the main room has a sofa bed / futon.
There is also a small window well in the unit. It lets in some light during the day and the window can also be opened.
What we provide: a ceramic space heater with thermostat to supplement the central heating if you like it extra toasty, a noise machine, fan, clothes rack, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, towels and hairdryer. There's no TV, but we do have guest wi-fi so you can watch your favorite shows on a laptop or other device.
We also provide guests with breakfast bars, bottled water and complimentary coffee! The unit has a refrigerator and microwave for your own light cooking and snacking needs, along with some basic kitchen supplies, including glasses, dishes, mugs, bowls and utensils, but please note, the suite does NOT have a kitchen.
Please note that since this suite is in our basement you may hear some standard house noises like water running through the pipes or the furnace kicking on or the occasional footsteps. The basement has a laundry room with a washer and dryer - feel free to use them, of course!
There is a staircase leading upstairs, but PLEASE only use the door at the top of the stairs in case of emergency, such as a fire. If you use the door, an alarm will sound.
The entrance to the in-law suite is separate from the main house, so you can come and go as you please without worrying about disturbing us or our neighbors. You don't even need a key - it all works via an electronic keypad.
We're happy to help answer any questions you have about getting around DC and things to do and see in the region. We've been hear more than 10 years and love it!
When we're out of town, friends help us manage the place, though you'll still be communicating through us.
You're welcome to use the laundry room, of course. Just a little detergent is required for each load - up to the first line of the cup at most. The dryer only works after you empty the lint trap.
If you have any dirty dishes, leave them in the plastic bin on the coffee cart and shoot us a message before you leave for the day. We'll take care of them for you!
- Upstairs access only for emergencies
We're from Washington, DC and use AirBnB for business and personal trips. We also serve as hosts for our in-law suite here in the District!
