Positives: It was very nice to have 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. This made getting ready much easier with a large group. Having 2 washer/dryer units was also a plus. With two families together, it was nice to have our own separate spaces. The kitchen was equipped with almost anything you'd need, with the exception of a large pot for boiling crabs and such.
Additionally, the view from the balcony was breathtaking, and could be enjoyed from 2 bedrooms, and the living room. The pool was nice, and it was good to be able to watch the kids in the pool from the room balcony. There was always a place to park, and it was quiet at night. The BBQ area was also a bonus. The condo is in a more private location, with very few restaurants and stores nearby. This could be an issue for some, but not for us.
Negatives: The condo was a little more "worn" than I had expected. For example, the linens were nubby and not fluffy; the sofa was frumpy; the carpets were tattered and a little dirty looking; and some of the floor tiles were broken or loose. Also, the tubs took a very long time to drain, and stopped completely a few times. We had to plunge them every time we showered.
Also, and by no fault of anyone, the beach at this condo was full of algae, making it very difficult to enjoy. The algae would wrap around our bodies, get in our hair, and swimsuits, and made the waters murky and and not clear. A local told us that this is common in the months of late May through mid-July. He said August and September were excellent waters. I wish we had known this before. On the second day of our stay, the ocean was closed for swimming due to high levels of fecal bacteria! This warning stayed place for the remainder of our stay. We were told that this is very common throughout the year at this beach. Again, I wish I had known this. It was quite frustrating to have paid so much for a condo right on the beach, only to have to pack up our things and drive into Destin to enjoy the waters.
Overall, I'd rate the condo a 4/5, and if it were spruced up a bit, maybe even a 5. However, if you're going to enjoy the waters in the summer months, I'd have to rate the location a 2/5.
