Location, location! Walk to everything in village: beach, summer baseball, park, library, fish at town dock, Cotuit Market, Kettle Ho, post office, church. Close to 4 beaches, grocery store, shopping at Mashpee Commons, Osterville, or Hyannis, short drive to ferries to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard, restaurants. Great set up for vacation: outdoor shower, beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, toys, relax in back yard or on the porch, WiFi, HD cable TV, gas grill, games. Beautiful garden!
This is a beautiful spot. Our grandkids, nieces and nephews love to come here. You can walk to everything - ball games, library, beach, playground, town dock, groceries. Front and back yards are spacious with room for croquet or bocce, tossing a ball, playing on the tire swing. Kids will come back from the beach, play outside, play games or do puzzles on the porch or dining room table, find a chair and read. The house sets up well for a large family group, as there are several spaces where people can go to relax. If you need to work, front parlor can be closed off for privacy. We love the front porch for dining in the summer - one large round table for 6 or 7, plus a card table and a table for 8 for various people configurations. Adirondack and other chairs plus BBQ grille in back yard. Views of the harbor and beautiful gardens from the yard and kitchen.
This rental will be for the whole house. You will have access to the kitchen, dining room, family room with HDTV, front parlor, 5 bedrooms, 2 baths, outdoor enclosed hot water shower (we love this in the summer!), front screened porch (eat, read, play games, enjoy a glass of wine!), and front and back yard. Parking in back of house. Internet, washer/dryer.
We are pleased to offer our historic home for your rental vacation. We live here most of the year but move out for the summer and live nearby and are available for questions, picking up trash and recycling 3x week, keeping the gardens watered and weeded. We have a landscaping company that will mow weekly and an irrigation system that waters the front yard.
We have rented many vacation homes ourselves and know what works and what doesn't, so we are making sure we have what you need. We try to keep condiments, spices, plenty of cooking equipment, glasses (and plastic glasses for back yard), blender, coffee maker, Keurig, wine refrigerator, lots of bath towels and beach towels on hand. We will speak with you during the rental process and again as your rental time comes near, to ensure that we have what you need. When you check in, we will walk you through the house and answer any questions you have. Our goal is your vacation relaxation!
We hope you will leave a 5 star review when you leave!
-We have purchased a Landlord Beach Parking Permit for your use at Cotuit and other Town of Barnstable beaches. These permits cost $300, so please leave the permit in the house when you depart, or there will be a $300 charge to you and a great inconvenience to the next vacationer!!!
-We have a generator that powers most of the house in the event of big storms or power outages.
- We have an 1886 Steinway upright piano in the front parlor, but only for those who know how to play!
1886 piano available but use only with experience and no food or drink placed on the piano. No sticky fingers or banging on piano keys!
We are close to neighbors who work, so guests need to keep outside noise at night to a minimum. We do like to sit on the porch at night and drink wine with friends!
Antique furniture marks when wet, so please use coasters for wet glasses; wet beach towels or bathing suits should be hung on the racks outside or by the outside shower.
Cotuit has septic systems, not sewers, so nothing except toilet paper gets flushed please (no paper towels, baby wipes or feminine products).

We love our historic house that has been in Margy's family since 1848. We love history, lead the village historical book club and are avid readers. Margy loves to quilt and cook and Rick teaches a course on FDR and loves decoys and first day covers. In the summer we go out on our boat to the island in our harbor and go clamming and work in our flower and vegetable gardens. We look forward to sharing this special seaside village with you and hearing about your travels.
