You'll have your own private wing of the house beginning with a private access room which includes a wall of books, TV (Netflix and Amazon Prime but no cable) wifi, and separate kitchenette. You'll have access to the pool from your room and private bathroom.
Enjoy sitting by the pool to eat or have coffee taking in spectacular views over Monterey Bay, gorgeous in the daylight and breathtaking with lights at night. The Milky Way and stars usually offer their own nighttime light show, too.
The house was built to maximize ocean and bay views. Its set on 37 private acres of towering redwood, pine, fir, oak, and madrone trees. Sunrise is so spectacular, confirmed late sleepers have been known to get up early.
The kitchenette includes microwave, toaster, coffee maker, blender and a refrigerator which is stocked with some breakfast basics for your convenience. Laundry is available for extended stay guests. You'll have a private carport next to your room.
The world doesn't intrude on you in Bonny Doon. Your neighbors are quail, squirrels, rabbits, bobcats, and deer. If you are looking for a rural location where you can relax and pursue artistic activities, this is your spot. I'm a writer and would especially encourage others to retreat here to work.
There's a pool, separate wifi, books, puzzles, and a metal detector to take to the beach to search for buried treasure. There's also a garden and a micro greenhouse/tearoom with seating and you are welcome to pick organic apricots, plums, blueberries, and apples in season for a snack.
The door between the carport and kitchenette will be unlocked. Come on in. I'll request that you leave this door unlocked during the day, but there is a keyed door to your room which you can lock.
During your stay I'll be around gardening and playing pool girl; feel free to come out and say hello. Meeting people is fun so I will try to be here to greet you, answer questions, or help as needed, but I respect guest's privacy so then if you prefer, I will then leave you alone.
There's so much to do near here: beach combing, biking, hiking, surfing and windsurfing, antiquing, golfing, wine tasting to name a few. The UCSC campus and its famous Arboretum is just down the road. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is close by, and at night Santa Cruz has a diverse and active music scene. Train aficianados will love a ride on the Roaring Camp Railroad in nearby Felton.
The quaint coastal villages of Davenport, Pescadero, and San Gregorio dot Highway 1 to the north and magical San Francisco is an hour-and-a-half away. Head south and a short drive puts you in charming Capitola, dubbed the poor man's Carmel, or Soquel with its many antique stores. Further south Monterey, Carmel, and Big Sur destinations make for excellent day trips. You might even want to time your trip to see the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am and do a little celebrity watching. Nancy Lynn Jarvis finally acknowledged she was having too much fun writing murder mysteries set in Santa Cruz to ever sell another house, so she let her license lapse in May of 2013, after her twenty-fifth anniversary in real estate.
After earning a BA in behavioral science from San Jose State University, she worked in the advertising department of the San Jose Mercury News. A move to Santa Cruz meant a new job as a librarian and later a stint as the business manager for Shakespeare/Santa Cruz at UCSC.
Nancy’s philosophy is that you should try something radically different every few years. Airbnb is her latest adventure.
