The courtyard suite is so named because it overlooks the once busy courtyard. When Causilgey was first built it would have bustled with the Lord and Lady of the Manors coaches. Later it was a dairy school then during world war 1 it was headquarters of the Land Army in Cornwall. The suite itself features a double bed with antique headboard but with all modern conveniences. A luxurious shower with rain head can be found in the bathroom. Fluffy towels and fine bedding ensure a comfortable stay.
Through the open windows you can hear the birds sing, only interrupted by The Causilgey ducks and hens who can sometimes punctuate their song. At night it is usual to hear the frequent calls of owls. It is very quiet here and traffic becomes a distant memory. You will feel a million miles from civilisation although in truth the capital of Cornwall, Truro is a scant 4 miles away.
Guests have access to a large car park. Guests enjoy a private entrance and as well as their room have access to the parlor where they can borrow a book or DVD, meet other guests, play games or plan tomorrows itinerary. Breakfast and evening meals can be purchased with advance notice. Television with a DVD player is offered in room. Original art works are hung throughout the property for the delight of guests. There are walks available through the Cornish landscape.
We are always happy to assist guests with information and directions. The north coast is five miles away. There are many fine restaurants and hidden gems of country pubs within 10 miles. Truro with its shopping, entertainment and fine dining opportunities is only 4 miles away. Not to be missed is its cathedral which is the youngest cathedral in Britain. The historic sights of West Penwith and Bodmin moors, stone circles, quoits and fougous are all accessible within an hour.
To reach us you travel down an ancient wooded track to a site mentioned in the Doomsday Book. The track is a little rough in places but the destination makes up for it. Less than 2 miles from the A30. At night the lights of Truro, less than 5 miles away, twinkle at the other end of our valley. We recommend a visit to the Minnack theatre. The minnack is a stunning venue carved out of the cliffs with the sea crashing on three sides. We will supply you with blankets and cushions and even a picnic may be purchased with advance notice.

I am an artist married to an eccentric Scotsman who loves to cook. We are world travelers who enjoy ancient sites and history, great food, wine and long inspiring walks. My husband Robin and I are now hosting at Causilgey Manor an atmospheric manor built in the mid 19th century from the scavenged stones of an ancient Manor mentioned in the doomsday book. If granite blocks could talk what tales they could tell! We have less time to travel these days, so you must come and visit us. Motto: Embrace every moment to the fullest!
