An 1885 Victorian rescued from demolition in the heart of Detroit just underwent an extensive rehab with modern luxuries like heated floors, heated towel bars, all new fixtures and appliances and much more. A minute walk to Q-line will connect you to Midtown, downtown, and the Riverfront without a car. Across the street from one of the largest and most beautiful urban farms in the world.
The hedgehog room is a small bedroom with a full size bed and custom shelving built out of the wood reclaimed from this house during demolition stages. You get access to two full bathrooms with Hudson Reed fixtures and a claw foot tub. You are also welcomed to use the kitchen on the first floor or the deck to lounge or sleep (if you like outdoors).
You will have access to shared bathrooms on the first and second floor. The bedroom is located on the second floor. Laundry room is in the basement and you will be able to use it. This room/listing is for two people max but other rooms are available in the same house to accommodate larger groups.
I am generally at work Monday-Friday 8am-6pm and usually spend most of my evenings and weekends at the house.
there are two house cats - Mittens and Shark - that are very sweet and cuddly and like to interact with guests but it’s easy to keep them out of your room by keeping the door shut.
I am passionate about Detroit and historical preservation. In 2015 I purchased this lovely 1885 Victorian house that had been vacant for 20 years and slated for demolition. Since then it had been completely gutted on the inside and rebuilt with all new everything. I am now at a point where the second and third floor are completed, with some work still ongoing on the first floor. There are total of 5 bedrooms and I can comfortably accommodate up to 6 guests at a time but have listed each room separately to allow guests more flexibility. There are heated floors, heated towel bars and AC for hot summer months - all tied into my geothermal system. I am ultimately aiming to take this house off the electrical grid with plans to install solar roof. All proceeds from Airbnb hosting are directly reinvested in this unprecedented project.
I am also passionate about animals. I had all the strays/feral cats in the neighborhood spayed and neutered and build shelters for them. They all hang out around the house and I feed them every night. There are also two house cats: Mittens - the chief mouser, and Shark. Both are friendly with strangers and will probably try to get into your stuff if you let them. There is also a hedgehog that goes by the name of Quilliam.
I am originally from the Czech Republic but have lived in Detroit for about 10 years. I am a beer person :)
