This is a very high-quality casa with great attention to finishings and extras to make the stay very nice. We took great advantage of using the free bikes every day. It is a bit of an adventure, riding on the Cuban roads, but for the distances travelled from Casa to beach, it doesn't take long to feel like you have it mastered. There is also a complementary one-way taxi into town each day, and you can then either take a return cab for about 5 to 7 CUC on your own, figure out the bus or horse carriage or a combination of things. There is also the option of walking, which we also did.
It is, as stated, not in Varadero. In order to get to the heart of Varadero, the wifi spot, and our favourite part of the beach, as well as the bike lock and watch location (1 CUC per day), it takes about 20 minutes on bike, or about an hour walk. We enjoyed the walk or bike ride each day as part of the adventure.
In Room 1, the furniture is beautiful hand-made wood furniture, the bathroom is very high quality for Cuban standards, with glass surround shower, all newly renovated.
The bed was comfortable, the bedding of a high Cuban standard, and the fridge an added benefit. We like to have our own fruit in our room, so it was nice to be able to keep it cool in our room so that it doesn't attract unwanted attention.
The courtyard in the centre of the building is lovely, with a caged bird and a lovely breeze on the days we were there.
There is more of a restaurant feel than most cases. They have a range of items you can order made through the day, which is pretty unique.
We enjoyed some of the local food around the area as well, such as the Cafe 6:30 for breakfast or lunch and the Comida Criolla for a good Cuban supper and great sesame bars.
If you want a more authentic Cuban experience while staying in one of the best Casa in Cuba, this is the place.
