"Traveling leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller." ~ IBN BATTUTA
Please stay a while and swap stories before you journey on through life.
Private spaces: You have a private entrance with keypad to your apartment. It would be most convenient for you to park on the concrete slab nearest your apartment. If you have more than one vehicle - let us know - we can accommodate. However, no RVs or moving trucks - my bridges at driveway entrances can't withstand that kind of weight.
Please note that there is only one thermostat upstairs. Please let us know if the temperature needs to be adjusted. There is a fan and heater available for your comfort, but vents and return are in the apartment that connect to our HVAC central system.
We encourage you to enjoy the deck, basketball goal, creek, outdoor shower in warm months, front porch, and yard (just be aware crawdad holes are throughout yard).
No laundry room available to guests. I do have a countertop washing machine for delicate items and laundry soap if you need to use it. Clothesline is in backyard (clothespins in the drawer where vanity is).
Please be respectful and understanding of others staying at our home - and enjoy your stay.

I love traveling, collecting books, taking pictures, listening to stories, meeting new people, and going on adventures!
I first became acquainted with Air BnB when I was invited to speak in Washington DC on communities and social media. I rented an apartment near Eastern Market and stayed a week with my teenage son and his best friend. I told them we were going to wear out two things that week ~ our metro passes and our tennis shoes. We did! Fabulous time!
I was hooked! I got to meet neighbors, get inside recommendations on the area, etc. I loved becoming immersed in the culture!
When I began treatments for my hearing loss - my boyfriend and I started booking Air Bnbs up and down the coast to and from Knoxville to Jacksonville Florida. We met the most interesting people, neighbors, and communities! We stayed in all kinds of homes, a castle, a yacht - and had a blast! It is a great way to travel on a shoestring budget! My Mayo Clinic doctor's and attendants were all checking out the app as they heard of our most excellent adventures on my path to recovery and restoration. With a prosthetic inner ear joint ~ I went from 75% hearing loss to 4% hearing loss! I am a bionic woman!
I decided to open our artsy eclectic home for travelers from all over the world. We worked hard at giving this 1960's rancher a touch of character and some TLC. Come and stay at the Casteel Branch House (named after creek beside our house) in the town where we call home. It is a great place!
I am a mother of 4 children whom I homeschooled for 10 years before placing in public school. They are now grown and on their own journeys. I am a former Knox County Commissioner (first of 10 women ever to serve in the capacity in the history of Knoxville, TN), Certified TN teacher K-12, 6 hours logged in my pilot log book, avid reader, fantastic networker, artist, writer, traveler, and Information Science Director at Agilaire/a scientific data management company. I have flown in a UH-1N Huey, fired a Tommy machine gun in the Knox County Sheriff's Citizen Academy, served on the Knox County Public Library Advisory Board, and won Volunteer of the Year Award in Blount County 4-H. My life was recently impacted and saved by The Artist Way workshop lead by my mentor Carole Ann Borges/ author of Dreamseeker's Daughter: A nautical memoir about an eccentric family living aboard an old schooner boat on the Mississippi River and Gulf Coast in the 1950s. I am deeply connected with the art community in Knoxville.
I have most enjoyed being an Air Bnb host where my guests bring a cosmopolitan flair to my East Tennessee home where I have lived since 2000. As an empty nester, I have enjoyed the constant flow of travelers that have shared their journey with me. Take a while here with the creative vibe, spend time by the babbling brook, sit by a bonfire, inquire about a therapeutic painting session in the art studio. Rest easy and recover... welcome to my yellow happy house! Stay a while - let us swap some tales. Enjoy your stay. And y'all come back sometime. Carpe Diem!
