This handsome, fully equipped studio w/ Wi-Fi is ultra-convenient for visiting Washington. The complex lies opposite DC's trendy Georgetown cafe and shopping area, only minutes from Rosslyn metro station. On-site gym, free fitness classes, sauna, grocery, dry cleaner/tailor shop, hair salon/spa!

This is one of several similar studios for rent in the same ultra-convenient setting, adjacent to Washington D.C. Please see additional listings below if this unit is unavailable.

All of the units are high-end, in a leafy, resort-style complex, two blocks from the Rosslyn metro stop. It's an ideal spot for touring D.C. -- only minutes' walk to metro, bus, bicycle-sharing stations and Zipcars. An uncommon collection of major attractions is within easy walking distance.

The fifth-floor studio showcased here features gleaming bamboo hardwood floors, tiled galley kitchen, granite counters, wall-mounted 32-inch flat panel TV, built-in desk, marble bathroom vanity and other upgrades.

The apartment includes its own, dedicated, high-speed Wi-Fi network -- separate from the slower, building-wide network.

The popular River Place South building offers an in-house fitness center with late-model cardio and strength equipment, stretching area, sauna and steam room.

The studio itself is sunny with a large, high- efficiency, wall-to-wall picture window; walk-in closet; built-in media center and bookcases. It's fully furnished in contemporary style and fully equipped, including hair dryer, microwave, coffee maker and DVD. All kitchenware and linens are provided.

From the apartment, you may walk across the picturesque Key Bridge to D.C.'s trendy Georgetown neighborhood of ethnic restaurants, lively bars, movies and busy nightlife. Also in easy walking distance is Theodore Roosevelt Island, an 88.5-acre nature preserve in the Potomac crisscrossed by nature trails and boardwalk that zips you from the urban environment.

The building, known as River Place South, is part of a gated community. A concierge is on duty in the upscale lobby. Community amenities include a resort-style outdoor pool with lap lanes and Jacuzzi-like hot whirlpool (open from Memorial Day to Labor Day). In addition to the in-house health club with late-model cardio and strength equipment and stretching area. there's an on-site grocery store open until at least 11 pm 7 days a week; hair salon; and on-site dry cleaner. On-site parking may be available by special arrangement @ $125 per month.

Early check-in also may be available. If so, we're happy to accommodate.

Washer/dryers are on the building's first floor, operated with a credit card, debit card or quarters.

Substantial improvements have been made to the building in the past couple years, including all new windows; four new elevators, a resurfaced roof and laundry room makeover, including advanced washing machines and dryers, capable of texting when a load is completed.

River Place overlooks the Iwo Jima Monument National Park, home to an iconic sculpture of the flag-raising by U.S. Marines during the Battle of Iwo Jima. The property also lies close to jogging and biking trails along the Potomac, upscale shopping in nearby Clarendon and acclaimed restaurants. You won't want to miss the successor to Ray's Hell Burger, where then-President Obama treated then-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to a fat, juicy sampling of what many deem still the area's best hamburgers. Zipcar and Capital Bikeshare stations are within a few minutes' walk.

For touring, the location is perfect: the Rosslyn Metro station is an intersection of the Orange, Blue and (new) Silver metro lines. D.C.'s Ronald Reagan National airport is a straight shot by the metro's Blue line. So is the Pentagon. One stop away on the Orange line is DC's Foggy Bottom Metro stop, steps from the U.S. State Department, the campus of George Washington University and the World Bank. Separately, a $1 shuttle bus whisks you over the Key Bridge to Georgetown from Rosslyn and then to Dupont Circle, the heart of DC's intellectual life. Nearby are many of the nation's most prestigious think tanks and research institutions, including the Brookings Institution, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Center for Strategic and International Studies, the German Marshall Fund, The Eurasia Center, the Peterson Institute and the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of The Johns Hopkins University. These think tanks host regular public policy-related events such as expert panel discussions that are free and open to the public. Check their online calendars for listings.

Restaurants, shops, post office, bank, and CVS drug store are all just around the corner from the apartment -- on or next to Wilson Boulevard, Arlington's main thoroughfare.

NOTES: The Iwo Jima Marine Corps War Memorial adjacent to River Place is home to the Sunset Parade, a riveting, free performance Tuesday evenings during the summer months by the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps with the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon. Crowds also gather at the Memorial on the 4th of July to watch the national fireworks display.

The D.C. Circulator bus runs between Dupont Circle, Georgetown and Rosslyn. For just $1, you can hop on the Circulator at the corner of 19th St. N. and N. Moore St. -- about five minutes' from River Place -- and shoot across the Key Bridge into D.C. For the return trip, pick up the bus in Dupont or Georgetown. Buses run every 10 minutes from 7:00 a.m. - midnight Sunday through Thursday and 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m. on weekends.

There are two private long-haul bus companies that run between Rosslyn and New York City. Vamoose Bus provides service several times daily from 1801 N Lynn Street in Rosslyn -- about five minutes' walk from River Place -- to Penn Station/Madison Square Garden in midtown Manhattan.. The cost starts at $20.00 each way. Tripper Bus provides daily service from nearby 1901 N. Moore Street to the Macy's flagship store on 34th Street in Manhattan, for a similar charge (as of February 2017).

Guests have access to cutting-edge gym equipment, free fitness classes, resort-style pool, sauna, steam bath; tree-shaded grounds.

Quick communication when you need it, but full privacy for you to enjoy your stay. Happy to help with recommendations for getting the most from your DC-area stay.

The building's management office requires that you register as a resident for a minimum 90-day lease. This entails a one-time $25 charge per person payable by check or money order when checking in, not cash. Such registration clears you to use the in-house gym, outdoor pool, and other community amenities. It also gets you a personalized electronic key fob to streamline access to the building. A separate lease-like document is required to register as a resident.

The host reached out to me and was incredibly helpful to me throughout. If anything was broken, he offered to fix things on his dime; he always asked my permission before sending workmen in to fix items for his next customers; and he even gave me a ride to the airport on my way out. This was a great experience. In terms of the apartment, it was also great. Spacious enough for 1-2 people, mostly modern amenities, a great gym in the basement, a pool outside, a convenience store and CVS around the corner, and you're just 10 minutes away from the metro and 20-30 minute walk from Georgetown.

This was my second Airbnb experience and it was great. everything is like the pic and the description. Jim was out of the country but still he called me to confirm that someone is waiting for me to get the keys which I really appreciated. I stayed 5 days and I really enjoyed it, everything you need is a walking distance especially Starbucks and the metro which is the main reason I chose this studio. Bottom line, I'll definitely come back and I would also recommend it to my friends.

We had a great time staying at Jim's apt. It was just perfect for us. Jim was so nice. He took us around the neighborhood and showed us some of the basics such as metro stop and a favorite eating place. His apt is very close to the metro which was a big plus for us. Jim was available to answer any questions we had during the trip. We could not been happier with our choice. We highly recommend this choice. We hope to visit again. Angie and Lou

A wonderful rental experience was had by my wife and myself......Jim went far out of his way to provide us with a beautiful introduction to Washington D.C. with a guided tour in his automobile and a delicious bottle of wine that showed the true intent of his hospitality. Like the story of the three bears....the bed and the apartment in general was neither "too soft nor too hard"...the apartment was just right...providing us with just the perfect balance of ambience, utility and convenience. I had forgotten to take a earlier provided instruction sheet on how to get to his apartment complex...and came to realize that it was but a six minute walk from the Rosslyn Metro...how convenient! We urge all readers to consider Jim's (URL HIDDEN) is "..just right...".

I'm a career reporter, based for long stints in New York, Paris, Bangkok, Washington and Shanghai. Now, a visiting professor of journalism in China and elsewhere. Am very happy to steer visitors to great spots in and around D.C. When I'm out of town, my in-house assistant manages key hand-offs and orientations to the property. As a guest, I pride myself on taking excellent care of others' homes.
