Yes! It does get very cold in kinglake in winter. Sometimes it even snows! :) So when I received your booking request at 3pm for check-in that same night I immediately contacted my cleaner to attend the property to light the wood fire for you, and ensure the extra linen was available for you. It’s unfortunate that you didn’t arrive until more than 2 hours later than you had told me, meaning I can only assume the fire had gone out by then. The house is equipped with plenty of hot burning (redgum) firewood, firelighters etc making it easy to relight the large wood fire if required. The house also features two additional heaters and loads of extra bedding. I also sent you a message prior to check-in to let you know which cupboard the additional doonas, quilts, blankets and pillows where kept, but as I didn’t get a response to this message can only assume you didn’t see that information. What a pity all this conspired against you having a toasty stay in our cosy cottage!
Next time it would be very helpful if you contact your host during your stay with any questions or concerns (as I advised in my check-in info), as I would have been able to walk you through relighting the wood fire and let you know the location of all the extra doonas and blankets etc. If this had occurred I’m sure you would have had a toasty warm stay in our cozy cottage ... just like all of our other guests. Safe travels. :)
