Our Cottage has a certain 1960's charm you can't find elsewhere. You have sweeping views of Aquia Creek which is home to eagle, osprey, heron, king fisher and the occasional chicken. Our community is surrounded by the Widewater State Park and we love it. The cottage has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 4 to 6, has a full kitchen (essentials) an incredible glass Florida sun room. Come see the sunrise and sunset over Aquia Creek from the private dock - you won't be disappointed.
When you're here, you will have full use of the cottage, our community boat ramp, and private dock. We joke that 'once you hit the gravel road, all your worries drift away' and it's true! It's like a vacation every day. We have 2 kayaks to share when available. The cottage also has a few fishing rods and tackle incase you decide to take on the bass, snakehead, and catfish that dominate our waters. There are two bed rooms. One room has a queen and the other room has two full size beds. The 'throwback-retro' sofa also flattens to make an additional sleeping space. Want to bring your dog? Great, we have a space for him too. PS: Any motorized watercraft tied to the dock, or on the lift, is not part of Airbnb; gravels roads are 10 mph; Wi-fi is limited; so for intense Wi-fi usage, you will need to use your hotspot.
The cottage has its own private driveway and double carport. We live next door and if we aren't here to greet you, cottage information hangs on the front door. So unpack, take a load off and we'll be along shortly. In addition to the house sleeping 4-6 people, it also has a full kitchen (with the basic essentials), two eating spaces, a full screened sunroom with Florida windows, and a private dock. The house has air conditioning for those warm summer days and electric heat and a wood stove for cold winter nights. If you need anything, we are a holler away. PS: Any motorized watercraft tied to the dock, or on the lift, is not part of Airbnb; gravels roads are 10 mph; Wi-fi is limited; so for intense Wi-fi usage, you will need to use your hotspot.
This is your time to unwind and relax; we will respect your space. Feel free to be as private or social as you like. We are family oriented and will treat you the same. Join us for conversation on the back deck or dock - no invitation needed. Have a question or concern? We are next door so just walk over. We are very dog friendly. Our dog, Lily Pad, loves it here and yours will too. After a few sniffs, the dogs get along and everyone is happy. We can even dog sit for you if you want to leave the creek and tour the area.
We live on a peninsula that boarders Aquia Creek and the Potomac River. Our roads are privately owned and the speed limit is posted at 10 mph (if you have guests, please share this information). We have limited Wi-fi for you to use for checking email, we recommend you bring your hot-spot if you have intensive Internet needs (several successful independent/corporate businesses operate from Widewater and the hotspot works great for each of them). We are close to Fredericksburg, the Quantico Museum, Quantico Marine Base, 2 VRE stations, and DC. We are 1 hour from the battlefields in Manassas, VA. When available, you have use of kayaks and a paddleboard. The cottage does not have a washer/dryer but we do; so if you need to run a load of laundry, just holler. We won't mind a bit. PS: Any motorized watercraft tied to the dock, or on the lift, is not part of Airbnb.
We have one basic rule and it's the Golden Rule: Leave our space better than you found it. Clean up after yourself if something spills. If you rearrange furniture - put it back how you found it. If you need help, just ask. Something breaks? Let us know, the world won't stop spinning. We are family here and will treat you the same.
The speed limit is 10 mph. Please respect our friends and families and drive the speed limit.
We are surrounded by a public park; however, our community is private. Please respect the properties of our neighbors.

We are water people who dry-dock during the winter. As a teacher and engineer, we love projects, being outside, and socializing with our neighbors. Boating is our favorite sport, past time, destination and we can't get enough. The cottage next door is now ours and renovated to reflect it's 'time'. We have only had great experiences hosting our Airbnb guests. A life motto? How about, "Find the good and praise it (what have you got to lose)"
