With that being said, you can have the boat anchored on a reef and snorkel all day. We will provide you with the equipment, fins, snorkel gear etc...
When you arrive, you will either get picked up by the "tender", or the sailboat will be at a predetermined location for you all to board. The Captain will stay with you on the boat for your safety but will stay out of your way throughout your trip. We will run you back and forth to the "mainland" at your leisure. Most of our guests prefer to get on the boat and stay off the grid for the duration of their stay. Stocking up on supplies at at the grocery store, liquor store and convenience store is awesome. Once you get on the boat, we can go on snorkeling, scuba, and fishing excursions that makes the whole Keys Experience all that much better. You are the boss...if you want to spend your days swimming, snorkeling and laying out on the deck and then cleaning up and going out to dinner...that is your prerogative. Or, we can go on a fishing trip, drifting the coral reefs and catching Red Snapper, Grouper and Mahi Mahi, then having a fish fry with your days catch. It is up to you. (some trips may be a slight up-charge, but not very much.)
People sometimes pay thousands to have a vacation like this and we are offering a trip of a lifetime for a fraction of the cost.
We will be available throughout your whole stay with us. How much you choose for us to be available is up to you. Obviously there are certain routine checks and maintenance duties that are inherent with operating a sailboat, so certain chores must be done on the boat daily. That does not mean that you have to do any work, just Captain Danny. If you want to jump on in and learn "the ropes" and how a sailboat actually sails, just ask. You may also want to be a member of the Crew and actually sail the boat, that can also be arranged. We are here for you and want to make it the most memorable trip to the Keys you have ever had.
Bear in mind that staying on a sailboat requires you to be in somewhat good physical condition. Also, if you are over 6'2", you might want to take your height into consideration. The forward cabin is what is called a "V Berth" which means the bed is shaped like a V. That being said, your legs go forward and it can be a little cramped if your are over 6'2".
**Unfortunately, it is not possible in the time allowed to go snorkeling at the reef if it is a 1 Night Booking.
Remember, this is a sailboat. We will have you meet at a pre-determined location for the water taxi to shuttle you out to the boat. The boat stays at anchor and is only accessible by boat. The water taxi will run you back and forth to the "mainland" at your leisure but they have limited hours and you are responsible for the fees. Most of our guests prefer to get on the boat and stay off the grid for the duration of their stay. Stocking up on supplies at at the grocery store, liquor store and convenience store is awesome.
Once you get on the boat, we can go on snorkeling, scuba, and some fishing that makes the whole Keys Experience all that much better. Bear in mind that I am not, nor will I ever pretend to know much about fishing, but I know the spots to catch fish. I have limited tackle for you to use and there is a bait and tackle shop right in the marina. We can go out fishing, drifting the coral reefs and catching Red Snapper, Grouper and Mahi Mahi, then clean the catch and have it for supper.
You're the boss...if you want to spend your days swimming, snorkeling and laying out on the dock and then cleaning up and going out to dinner...that is your prerogative. I look forward to hosting you and show you a different side of lodging and experiencing Key West the way it was meant to be...on the water!
