Downtown Berkeley is an easy 10-minute walk, and just several minutes by car or bicycle. Public transportation is convenient and abundant, with Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) stations and AC Transit bus lines nearby.
You have convenient access to your own private bathroom. You also receive a shared off-street driveway for your parking convenience.
The room and house offer a quiet, safe, secure place for studying, visiting friends and/or touring.
The house features wireless internet, full kitchen privileges, living room, laundry, and a large, serene rear deck with scenic bay views that also overlooks the big backyard with its lush avocado and lemon trees. Outdoor tables are located on the back deck and in the garden in the back yard. The front yard features many herbs like thyme, chamomile…that you may pick and use while cooking.
For long-term and short-term stays, you are welcome to help yourself to sheets, pillow cases, towels, etc. that are located in the linen closet next to the upstairs bathroom. Initially, you will receive two towels, two face towels, as well as sheets and covers. Just put the dirty linen, towels, etc. in the dirty clothes hamper next to the washing machine downstairs when you change your bedding and/or change your towels. (Please try not to overload the washer and dryer.)
There are spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge from this property. And the Educator/Teacher neighbors are very friendly and nice!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
Thank you for your interest. I look forward to your visit!
Just walk through the hallway on the left side of the main stairs.
There is a downstairs bathroom. It is located by walking through the hallway downstairs on the left side of the stairs, then through the kitchen and into the laundry room. It will be on the right side of the laundry room.
The bathroom upstairs includes a shower or bathtub. Just walk upstairs and turn. It is labeled "Bathroom."
Just walk through the hallway on the left side of the stairs and then through the kitchen. Its doorway is on the right side of the refrigerator.
Walk down the driveway, which is located on the right side of the house, or exit the back door on the left side of the laundry room. Turn right and walk down the stairs into the back yard.
Muffins, donuts, croissants, strudels, cookies, and other possible pastries are located in the kitchen, on the counter that is right next to the doorway next to the hallway. In fact, anything labeled "Help Yourself" is available: sugar, cooking oil, coffee, tea, spices, organic popcorn, hot-air popcorn maker, fruits, etc. All are located in the kitchen.
There are about 16 different WIFI networks. There is a wired router on all three levels of the house and also in the cottage. These very stable routers are also extended by WIFI extenders so that no matter where you are located on our property you will have excellent reception for doing your school work, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)ing, etc.
All WIFI networks start with "Joyce" and we suggest Joyce, Joyce_2.4GHz, Joyce_5.0GHz or Joyce_5.0GHz-2 for the Berkeley Hills Private Bath, View & Cable TV by UC room. The password for all networks is (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).

A graduate of both Columbia University and Stanford University, I am a retired teacher awarded "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" twice.
As a pre-med undergraduate student, I was an Ivy League wrestling champion.
I have put my educational software, film making and music on hold to help my mom, Joyce Carol Thomas, host her Airbnb listings in Berkeley, California. Her pen name was Joyce Carol Thomas, and she also was a graduate of Stanford University, as well as a winner of the American Book Award, National Book Award, three Coretta Scot King Award, and a member of the Oklahoma Writer's Hall of Fame.
I also drive for Uber and Lyft part-time; as a result, feel free to ask me for a ride from SFO or a tour of places you wish to see while in California.
I used to write, play, and sometimes sing to make a song a day, and have had many requests for that music, so I plan to produce some of it soon.
