Swiss Chalet is nestled atop the summit of historic Donner Pass. Just a mile off I-80, the home sits among the Yuba River in the Sierra Mountains. This home away from home is just minutes away from four ski resorts, a cross country resort, Donner Lake, the PCT, rock climbing and mountain biking. This idyllic vacation destination is perfect for couples, families with children, and their furry friends. (Domesticated furry pets only. Best to leave the wild and furry outside.)
This will be your home away from home in the Sierra Mountains. The house contains a total of three bedrooms. The "master" has a queen bed, library, reading nook, TV/DVD player, and a desk. The second bedroom has a queen bed and a reading nook. The third bedroom has two twin beds and is located just off the second bedroom (perfect for little ones). There are two bathrooms; one has a large shower with a built-in heating lamp, great for thawing out from the snow. The second has a bathtub with lots of candles, perfect for a relaxing, warm bath. The house has two living rooms. The front room has a large fireplace and big open windows, perfect for sitting around the fire with a mug of hot cocoa, while taking in the beautiful, towering pine tree forest and watching the snow fall. The back living space has a small wood-burning stove and a place to hang all your wet clothes from the day’s snowy activities. There is also a TV and DVD player in the room. The large dining room has seating for eight, and the home includes a fully equipped kitchen. All the basic essentials are available: pots, pans, spices, cookware/bakeware, coffee maker/grinder, blender, and microwave. There is a Bar-B-Q pit outside which is great in the summertime for Bar-B-Q’s underneath the trees. A laundry room is available if needed.
Guests have free access of the entire house, but we do ask that the owner’s privacy is respected regarding the garage. This is the only space unavailable to guests.
We live about an hour away but are available via text or phone call. If you have any questions, or need suggestions on things to do in the area, do not hesitate to reach out.
Please respect our neighbors’ property and privacy by only using trailheads. Keep the outdoor noise to a minimum at night. We ask that you leave the house in the same condition you found it (i.e. dishes washed, trash removed, clean up after your pet, strip your beds and put bedding in the laundry room before you go). We welcome you to our home and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
