Cosy bedroom in a cute old house in East Austin. Close to downtown and all the bars, restaurants, and shops on the east side, and a quick ride to South Congress, Lady Bird Lake, and UT. Our place is great for couples, solo adventurers, artists, musicians, and kind humans.
- Your room is bright and cosy, with a comfortable full-size bed, clean linens, towels, and extra blankets. There's an A/C unit and ceiling fan in each room for the (inevitably) hot Austin days which you have full control of and keep the room nice and cool, as well as a heater for the rare cool nights. You're welcome to use the desk and all art supplies if a creative spark comes, and there's plenty of space to hang up clothes, coats, bags and store anything else.
- There's a separate entrance into your room from the front porch, which means you don't have to waltz through the living room if you get in late or leave early, and offers a little extra privacy. The front porch has a couple of chairs and is great for a peaceful cup of coffee in the mornings and just lovely in the evenings.
- The bathroom is shared, but you'll be all set with everything you'll need. And we'll do our best to be considerate of timing and give you plenty of time and space to get ready.
- We live in the house full-time and love to cook, so the kitchen is set up with everything you could need like dinnerware, pots and pans, toaster, blender, refrigerator, etc. You're welcome to coffee, tea, spices, and kitchen staples as well!
NOTE: We love kiddos, but the room may not be suited for really little nuggets. I'm an illustrator/designer/artist, and the room doubles as my studio sometimes (though it will be all yours during your stay!), and there's easy access to office and art supplies that are sharp and messy could be trouble for little hands. We want your family to be safe and comfortable, so feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns about this.
You will have full access to the living room with cable TV, Netflix, Hulu, and all that good stuff, as well as the kitchen, dining room, and bathroom. If you don't want to travel with a computer, you're welcome to borrow one of ours to access email, maps, things like that. We live in the house full-time, and have everything you could need for a comfortable stay, so don't hesitate to ask if there's something you need. The washer and dryer (plus detergent and all that jazz) are yours to use as well!
We will be available upon arrival to help you get settled, and can be as hands-on or off as you'd like. We're happy to provide neighborhood recommendations and answer any questions, but have no expectations beyond normal respectful communication. The room has a private entrance from the front porch, which means your keys will lead right into your room and offer a little bit more privacy to come and go as you need. We respect your privacy and want to make your stay easy and comfortable.
Full disclosure, the house was built in the 30s, which means it feels like an old house. It has a lot of character and love, we keep it nice and clean, and we don't think it would interrupt your stay at all, but we don't want you to be surprised by its quirks!
We're a couple of recent Austin transplants, one native Texan, one NJ dude, who spent the last few years living in Brooklyn, NY. We love Austin for its unique balance of city life (great food, music, interesting things to do) and easy access beautiful nature. And also queso.
We love to cook and eat, explore our new city, and play a little music every once in a while. If you want a little glimpse into our lives and how we spend time in Austin, my Instagram is the best place for that (@jenniferlioy).
We love our home for its great light, positive energy, colorful art, pretty plants, and the good food usually in it. We're excited to share it with you!
