HI FISHERMAN, HUNTERS, TRAVELERS AND LOVERS OF THE OUTDOORS, JOIN US UNDER THE SEVEN CASTLES
The full top floor of the house is available beginning October 1, 2013. You'll have the whole floor to yourself including 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and a cubby-hole kitchenette with basic conveniences. Come and go freely, and enjoy the outdoor decks and natural surroundings of the home. Plenty of outdoor parking for boats and RVs.
ABOUT THE HOUSE:
This 3-level home sits on four acres in a verdant valley between the gold medal Frying Pan River and the majestic Seven Castles rock formation. Miles of expanse of national forest rise up from your back door. Step outside for a hike along the old Stagecoach Road or through a "secret" gorge to the multi-tiered waterfalls, hop on your bike for a ride along the river road to the Ruedi Reservoir, or walk down to the "Pan" for a leisurely day of world-class fishing.
All the attractions of a rugged, mountain vacation are at your fingertips, yet the quaint, historic town of Basalt is only a short scenic drive along the river. Here you'll find eclectic shopping, superb restaurants, art galleries, bike shop, gun store, antiques and several fine yoga centers. Just a bit further is the new Whole Foods store surrounded by more shopping and restaurants.
Wildlife abounds under the Seven Castles. We've seen big horn sheep, deer, elk, foxes, bears, bald eagles, rabbits and coyotes. Winter months are often best for wildlife viewing. The night skies are dark in this peaceful setting, the stars are brilliant and the milky way often looks like a cloak floating across the sky. A 2nd floor covered deck stretches across the full front and sides of the house and is a lovely place for morning coffee or tea, or for soaking up the crisp night air and looking for a shooting star. A large mountainside deck to the back is a great place to congregate and share meals and stories of the valley.
Details of the house are below. You may rent either a single bedroom with private bath or the entire top floor. In both cases, you'll have access to a small kitchenette (see features below) between the two rooms. Please see companion listing "Seven Castles Retreat," with same photo, for single-room booking or contact me for more information.
Please review the photos provided. Nothing can do justice to this incredible valley, but here you'll get a hint of it. The back deck is finished and landscaping a work in progress. (NOTE that 2nd floor photos are provided to give you and idea of the rest of the house but ONLY the 3rd floor 2BR/1Ba/Kitchenette are included in the rental.)
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I look forward to welcoming you to Seven Castles & Basalt.

I'm happy to answer any questions during your stay either while at home or at work which is the local Basalt Chamber of Commerce.
Enjoy yourself, first and foremost. And, since this is a shared house, please do keep reasonably quiet and respect the privacy of others. Do not bring anyone into the house who's not registered as a guest or is not approved. If you use the kitchen, please clean up after yourself. Basic considerations.
Your space is the top floor of the house. Feel free to lounge on the back and western decks. We'll show you around once you arrive. As described, this is a no smoking house. Quiet time is 11pm to 7:30 am
As to your arrival, please be sure to coordinate your arrival time with me -- within roughly an hour. Arrival is after 3 p.m. and checkout is 11 a.m. Happy to consider special arrangements if circumstances allow to accommodate your schedule.
(Also, insurance requires that I write that you will be responsible for any damages beyond normal use, of course... and thanks for caring for this house as your own home :)
Back to the top: Enjoy!

Hi! I live in Colorado and work in marketing, public relations, political strategy and community organizing. I also sculpt and practice Chinese martial arts. I've traveled all around Europe, Central America and parts of Asia. I hope to visit many more places in the U.S. and look forward to enjoying unique experiences through this great program. As a visitor, I'm quiet, thoughtful and considerate of your home. (I've not yet made any reservations so no reviews.) I'm in the process of setting up my home below the amazing Seven Castles in Colorado for guest stays. As of August, 2013 I have a private room and bath available for visitors and will offer the full house for short- and long-term stays in September. Welcome!
