Our home is in a quiet residential street, close to the beach, the markets, parks, cafes and restaurants. The bedroom is in the old part of the house with a 4-meter (12-foot) ceiling, double bed, closet space, and an adjacent private bathroom. Our garden has several olive trees, grape vines, citrus trees, and organic vegetables. You can walk to the Old City of Jaffa, to the beach, and to the local bus to Tel Aviv (a 10-minute ride). Perfect for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
From the moment you walk through our front gate, canopied with bougainvillea, you are transported to another world. The path to our front door meanders through some olive trees and our organic vegetable garden. A few lemon and orange trees line one side and you enter our porch through a canopy of grape vines.
Your host, Fred, is a skilled carpenter, and the woodwork in this lovingly renovated old home was ‘upcycled’ wood, recrafted into unique doorframes, bookshelves and architectural renderings. The large hallway at the entrance to the home was repurposed into a library with floor to ceiling bookshelves and an eclectic collection of artwork. You are welcome to borrow books during your visit.
Your bedroom is the master suite of the house, made vacant when the owners are abroad (4-5 months of the year). The owner’s daughter, or a local live-in caretaker, will be available to make you comfortable and provide you with information about local activities, buses etc.
You will have a private bedroom with a 4-meter (12 feet) ceiling and private bathroom - entirely your private space. Of course you will also have full access to the kitchen, main salon, and the patio and garden where you may end up spending most of your time, especially when the weather is nice - which is most of the time.
You'll have full access to the vegetarian kitchen. Meat can be cooked on the outdoor grill.
Your hosts, Fred & Sunita, will be touring abroad during your stay, and a responsible caretaker will share the home with you.
Our two dogs and two cats will also be in residence. Feel free to walk the dogs if you like. Just keep in mind that we do have litter pickup regulations in Jaffa, so you need to take along some plastic bags to ‘Scoop the Poop’. If you choose, you can allow the dogs to sleep in your bedroom. They'll like that. Just don’t allow them on the bed. If you do not want animals in your room, then keep the door closed at all times.
- Smoking in garden only.
