Villa New Beige was born in 2006. As you'll see in the photos is an architects dream. Huge exposed beams and posts tied together with steel rods its an amazing engineering feat. Using the stairs or the private elevator you'll arrive on your first floor. Antique recycled heated flooring from the building itself will welcome you. Stainless steel banisters will make you think you've just stepped on a megayacht. On this floor you'll find a gourmet kitchen, lounge and dining. As well as one bedroom and full bathroom. The single Loft Bed up a ladder. great for kids or an extra bed single adults. TV And lounge area, wine fridge and antique Thai doors compliment the circular stair case leading to the top floor private oasis. On the second level you'll find the second queen size bed, another bathroom with huge shower and another lounge leading onto the roof top deck. With views across the harbor you'll think your the captain of your own ship. Great place for breakfast, afternoon cocktails, or dining at the table while taking in the views of the harbor and across to fairhaven and the islands of buzzards bay.
Being so convenient to a bar and restaurant can cause noise issues especially on Friday and Saturday nights when the city is open late. The apt is above the Cork Wine and Tapas Bar restaurant function room. Guests who prefer to go to sleep early on these nights especially if the room below is rented for a party may like to consider a quieter out of town accommodation. We rarely get any complaints but want our guests to be fully aware of where they are staying. This is not a silent country cottage. We cannot refund the stay or portion of it due to city/bar noises. Its just a part of Downtown NB living and that's what most our guests enjoy the most and keep coming back for.
THE WHOLE PLACE IS YOURS!
Although the Laundry room located on the upper level bathroom is only available to stays of 5 nights or more or on request for shorter stays for a fee.
As a child my wife grew up seeing it covered in Vines and filled with trash and trees growing through the middle. always known as 'The Vine Building' Growing up always wishing she could purchase it as she had an eye for its potential. After many years away at college and working in interior design and specializing in Restuarant design, she returned to see it finally converted to the Landmark building she knew it could be. It laid dormant for many years until it was bought in 2005, totally stripped but saving all the materials to use throughout the renovation. The building was renovated to house a Restaurant, Cork Wine and Tapas and the Taber convention room on the three lower floors and the amazing 2 story penthouse apartment on top. It won many awards for saving its history. It then became available for purchase in 2010 and a life long dream was complete. We were able to purchase the building and use the apt for our vacations and can now share it with you. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
The most incredible view in New Bedford. Panoramic views from the huge roof deck. Over looking the working harbor and out to the Elisabeth Islands. As well as views from every window. The restaurant below is Cork Wine and Tapas. its very popular and probably the best food in town. On the 3rd floor there is a party room. depending on the party it may be heard from the 1st or 2nd floor of the apt. Check to see whats happening when you book. If you're looking for a place in the busy city of New Bedford but want to hear the crickets you might want to stay in the outer suburbs.
The Joseph Taber building has stood solidly by the waterfront since its original construction in 1836. At the time, the whaling industry was surging in New Bedford, and the Taber brothers sought to capitalize on the resulting opportunities by producing blocks, pumps and other items for local seamen. Because the Taber building was designed to be a warehouse to produce, house and maneuver large nautical equipment, the interior is spacious and skewered with an enormous steel rod that supports the floors from basement to roof. Although the Tabor brothers were successful for many years, their business folded at the turn of the century when new technologies made their shop and its offerings obsolete. The Taber building changed hands many times, suffering everything from dubious restructuring projects to a fire. While historic downtown New Bedford appreciated, the Taber warehouse languished until 2005 when it was completely restored.
No parties without prior notice to the owner before booking. Parties include any guests more than the 5 staying the night.
Please strip the beds and place in Upper level bathroom. wash any dishes/ pots and pans and/or fill the dishwasher and start it. Thanks so much! Please turn off all the lights by pushing firmly on the switches, pushing softly only dims them. Please turn ceiling fans and fire place off and set the temperature to 50 degrees on both upstairs and down stairs thermostats. thanks so Much!
