Our cheery, sunny, spot is close to Englewood Beach on Manasota Key where Beach Yoga, is offered 365 days a year. We're close to shopping and dining on Historic Dearborn Street and Beach Road. Just down the road from us is Lemon Bay Park, where you can enjoy lovely water-side walks and beautiful views. And, we're about half an hour from Sarasota, where culture abounds! If you love dogs, you can visit with our three, and feed Horton, our resident Great White Heron.
Our space is attached to our main house but has it's own entrance and is private. It was designed to be an apartment with an interior door that keeps it private from the main house, and we decided to make it into two bedrooms (instead of one bedroom with kitchenette.) So! There are two very clean, pretty, cheerful bedrooms -- one with a queen bed and the other with 2 twin beds -- and a nice, full bath. The larger bedroom has plenty of closet space and a table for your laptop and for take-out food. We provide breakfast snacks -- fruit, muffins, orange juice, etc. -- for your first morning, and there is a coffee maker in your room, as well as a mini-fridge. Parking is excellent, with your space right in front of our garage and right beside your entrance gate. And we're far from the street, so usually quite quiet. Beds are super-comfortable! Outside your rooms is a side yard with bench -- where you can drape beach towels to dry, if you wish -- and if you'd like to visit with a dog or two (or three), you can meet them outside or we can even send one in to your rooms! They are SWEET.
We also have a gorgeous resident heron, Horton, who appears most mornings for breakfast -- and some early evenings for dinner -- and if he's out in front when you emerge in the morning and you'd like to feed him, just ring our doorbell and we'll give you a hotdog -- and a little knife to cut the hotdog into small pieces for Horton -- and a hand wipe for after, and you can sit on the butterfly bench on our front patio and experience his beauty!
You'll be able access all of the above, and also our fenced-in front yard if you'd like to sit on a bench and visit with the dogs there. Plenty of added parking on the grass along the fence side of our driveway if you need it for a a small trailer, or if you have more than one vehicle.
I like to give you your privacy but am always here at night and often during the day, so you have only to call the house phone -- and then one of our cells -- if you have a question or a need. We are usually very available. ( I sometimes get call-outs as a chaplain or have weddings to officiate, but then my husband can usually be here.)
We try to keep our dogs quiet when you're here, which is why we separate your side yard. They'll usually bark when you come and go but then quiet right down. If they are outside barking in the evening we get them right in, and they are quiet all night -- from 9:30 pm on -- and often off-property at the dog beach or out for a walk first thing in the morning.
If you like flowers, feel free to walk around the 'island' (with single palm tree) in front of the house.
We love having you here! Make yourselves at home!
- Please be fairly quiet after 10 pm, (TV down a bit and no raised voices.) There are lots of places to go if you're in party mode!
- Basic in-room breakfast items & coffee & tea will be provided for your first morning, so you don't have to go foraging for nuts and berries right away!
- We have 3 lovely dogs who you will sometimes hear barking, but not close to your rooms and not after 9 p.m. Nor very early in the morning! But if you like dogs, please feel free to say hello to them when you come out to your parking spot, and to pat them over the fence.

Hello! I come from a creative background and I'm an Interfaith minister, chaplain of our local k9 search & rescue group and also founder of a fospice non-profit for shelter dogs and cats. Mostly, though, I'm usually the comic relief. My husband is a retired teacher and we have three lovely dogs. I am very big on making people comfortable, so there will be breakfast in your mini-fridge the first morning you're here, and a coffee maker with all the fixings, and our mattresses are REALLY comfy. The dogs are quiet except for greeting people, and they are quiet after 9 p.m. If you love dogs, we hope you'll visit with them over the fence in the front yard. If not, that's okay, too. I like to say that my religion is kindness.
