This suite has a private entry with bed, bath, and kitchenette. Guests love the memory foam mattresses (specify if you need one or both twin beds), the great shower, and the extensive selection of organic coffees and teas in the kitchenette, which has a mini-fridge, toaster oven and hot plate, as well as plates, cups, bowls, spoons, etc. The patio is open to all and guests often meet over a glass of wine at the common table.

State law forbids specific smoking areas but light 420 outside is ok.

This space is beloved by all who visit. The room is private and full of natural light, with a subtle bohemian vibe. A simple desk, bookshelf, end tables, and a twin bed (with another stored underneath it that pops into place quickly when adding another person) furnish the space.

A sliding glass door opens onto your private patio area and side garden and you'll find a lovely wrought iron table and chairs nestled in this sweet garden.

The little kitchenette (I call it the tearoom) is also adorable and fully stocked with a mini-fridge, toaster oven, hot plate, electric teapot, cups and saucers, dishes, silverware and even a small container of milk (for your Earl Grey, of course!). Just leave used items in the tub and I'll refresh it every day.

Lovely, historic homes line Capitol Boulevard and a 5 minute walk from my house leads to the state Capitol complex of gardens and stately government edifices. A few blocks farther takes you downtown, where trendy shops, yoga studios, coffee houses and galleries await. Simply strolling our neighborhood is also pleasant - many beautiful homes bear the official historic register plaque, including the houses next door and across the streets from this one.

Your hostess is happy to offer you ideas for daily excursions from sightseeing at the Capitol to trekking the national forest to lore and day trips to the mysterious Mima Mounds.

I have two cats but neither are allowed access to this part of the house (and one of them lives outdoors anyway. She won't bother you ;-)

All guests enter the house from the back patio. Park on the street or in the driveway and let yourself in the back gate. Cross the patio to the second set of steps with sliding glass doors and a padlock up high on the right door.

Once they are booked, I let guests know how to access they key. When inside the suite, use the door to lock up, and when leaving, use the padlock and take the key with you. When you depart, drop key back in the designated spot. Easy and safe ;-)

When guests arrive they are usually tired, hungry, or in need of a shower-- not a long conversation (no matter how fascinating the hostess). So I show you around, make sure you have what you need, then let you settle in and do your thang. I do love helping guests who need suggestions on food, nightlife, and outdoor excursions, though, so please ask. I just like to be sensitive to your privacy so you can enjoy your trip!

A few miscellaneous notes...

I provide some well water for drinking because our artesian well in Olympia has such delicious water! There is nothing wrong with the tap water, though!

Sometimes voices carry through the vent under the mirror in the hallway. Try closing the vent, which makes a big difference. You can also give me a call and I can ask the other guests to pipe down. This has only been an issue once in over 100 rental experiences, btw!

If you need extra blankets, a space heater, more cups or such, text or call me. I am rarely more than a mile away at any time! But I spend a lot of time on the third floor of the house and cannot hear much in the tearoom. If you can't find me, please feel free to knock at the front door!

I admit I like guests who keep it on the clean and quiet side, but The Livelyhood is an easygoing household and we're pretty accommodating if you're open and communicative. Vaping and 420 use is acceptable on the back porch of the tearoom suite, btw.

Some pet(s) live in the house

Lori's house is very beautiful and charming. The tearoom suite is well stocked with towels and extra blankets, and there is a ton of complimentary tea and coffee. We especially enjoyed the twig tea! The twin beds were comfortable and we wish we could've stayed a little longer to enjoy the patio in the back, and the company of Lori's very friendly cat. Lori is a great host and responds promptly to messages. The house is a relaxing 20 minute walk to downtown Olympia, so it's a fantastic location if you are visiting the area / hiking nearby.

Quiet and cozy neighborhood. Walking distance to the capitol building and downtown Olympia. Really enjoyed my stay at Lori's place and would definitely stay again!

My brother and I stayed for just the night at Lori's, and it was a paradise after a massive day of hiking and driving. Amazingly comfortable, and we both enjoyed her decorations. We are still talking about her place days later into our road trip. Lori communicated excellently, and I only wish we could have stayed at her place longer. Highly recommend and I will be staying here again next time I'm around.

There's something awkwardly beautiful about strangers trusting each other to share a roof, and the longer I host with Airbnb, the better I feel about humanity! I was surprised to discover how much I enjoy offering a resting place for people as they pass through in pursuit of their lives. Hosting them (you!) reminds me the world is still a friendly place full of good people.

The Livelyhood is an umbrella term for how I make ends meet in the new "gig economy" - Airbnb and private rental rooms, brand and marketing consultation, writing/editing services, and interior staging and design. I'm also ordained to officiate weddings and other ceremonies.

I get excited about art, architecture, archeology, geology, history, language, ancient cultures, yoga, mysticism/esoterica, world travel, poetry, literature, film, deep ecology...stuff like that! I've lived in Washington State since 1990 and can make recommendations on everything from day hikes to beach trips to rainforest adventures.

Visit the State Capitol campus, tour the marble-filled dome where the legislature meets, browse the Farmers Market (open four days a week through December), or check out The Evergreen State College, Olympia's renowned public liberal arts school. April guests should not miss the Procession of the Species, the oft-imitated-but-never-duplicated community celebration of the natural world.

If you need a clean, warm, art-filled and life-affirming place to land for a few days, the Livelyhood is your Om away from Om.
