Welcome to your newly renovated and sunny apartment in Amsterdam's Old West, 2 double beds, with supermarket, tram stops & plenty of restaurants at the front door. Major attractions are just a few mins away. Two bikes for free.
Your home in Amsterdam is in an apartment on the first floor, freshly renovated from a 19th century building with all its classic charm carefully retained.
The living room has a big windowsill where you can relax with a cup of tea, enjoying your breakfast while looking down to the street as the world goes by. You have a comfortable sofa-bed for two (see pictures) in this room.
Connecting your room to the kitchen is a very classic Amsterdam old style sliding door from the original design. In your home here, the kitchen is not tucked away but a spacey and central place for sharing, gathering and enjoying the food made of love.
The sleeping room has a double bed with big window looking down the street.
For a typical Amsterdam house, it is quite unusual to have a big bathroom with both shower and hot tub. You won't need to bring shampoo and shower gel because they are complimentary from the host.
Further, you have here all the basic amenities you need to make it homey and comfortable: kitchenware, some basic ingredients for cooking, dishwasher, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, bean bag, and plenty of sunshine.
The Old West where you will be staying is one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Amsterdam. From your window, you can see a big supermarket, shops, newsstands, and restaurants...all of them are literally just a dozen of meters away. Your home is practically on two big shopping streets: Rozengracht and Bilderdijkstraat, while another major one Kinkerstraat and its iconic street market is a few minutes of distance. Amsterdam's much-talked-about food hall De Hallen can be reached within 5 minutes by walk. Historical Anne Frank house, legendary Leidsplein and famous Jordan district are all in the walking distance. If you want to enjoy the nature, there is a small park right next to the building, to the left.
The corner of your street is one of the best tram connections in the city with tram 13 directly to the central station in just a few minutes, making it very easy to get to Schiphol airport.
While you are here, you are more than welcome to use my bicycles as there are two of them. They are of Dutch standard, which mean they look a bit tired but they work like a champ. Amsterdam is the Wild West of the bikers. Only here you can ride a bike without helmets, on the wrong side of the street, without lights, while being half sleep and carrying a person behind you. Police do stop you if they are bored. Please always use two locks since bike thief has become a national trauma.
Amsterdam is small, so you can quickly get around. A tiny city but with everything that a world-class metropolitan has to offer. You can get lost in its beauty and charm, yet manage to get home in no time. It has the best arts, music, festivals, quirky life styles and a wonderfully weird level of liberty.
When you are here, the apartment is your home away from home, but it is also my safe haven from a busy life. So please do not smoke in the house, keep it neat and clean when you leave, and replace what you have used from the fridge and kitchen. The place is not suitable for pets neither.
The building is old, and people live right next door. So it is common sense to keep it low after 10 pm. My neighbors are nice, but can be too curious :-) To avoid any unnecessary questions, you can simply say that you are my friends.
The red folder on the table will give you all information about wifi, safety, housewares instruction, and contacts.
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund. Cancel within 5 days of your trip and the first night is non-refundable, but 50% of the cost for the remaining nights will be refunded.

I am originally from Asia, but I consider myself a cultural nomad, since I have lived in and traveled to more than 100 countries. Believe me, it gets tired one day. And that is why I bought this house recently, to root me down, and to give me some sense of being homey.
I am a freelance writer. When I am not writing, I teach and do research at the university. When I'm not writing or working at the university, I am probably lost somewhere in one of my new journeys. My way of traveling is to get in touch with the authentic life as much as I possibly can, so I often stay with local families, in local houses, and shun the hotels all together.
From all my journeys, the country where I would want to come back for food is Peru, for culture is India, for nature is New Zealand, for people is Yemen, and for a deep touch of love, I go to Vietnam. My dream is to be able to visit Saudi Arabia. However, the two places where I seem to have everything right now are Sydney, and of course Amsterdam. It is a greedy combination I know. As a consequence, I often manage to live in Sydney several months each year.
I am new with Airbnb, and I have to learn a lot. I would appreciate it if you can tell me what I should do to make your stay here a great experience.
