Mateika on the Esplanade is a one bedroom unit of 65 metres squared. We have one of the best locations in the building as our unit is on level 4 and is 100% facing the Ocean.
The bedroom has a king size bed with sliding wooden panels for privacy. There is also space to put your clothes in the built in wardrobe.
Please let us know when booking if you would like use the sofa bed. To use : Take off the cushions and you will see a handle at the front. Pull this handle up and out towards you, and the sofa bed will unfold.
The Doona and pillows are in the cupboard in the bedroom ready to use.
The bathroom has a shower for relaxing after a day of site seeing. The kitchen and living room are combined and have a balcony overlooking the pool, Esplanade, Lagoon and Ocean.
The kitchen has: a portable 2 burner hotplate, microwave, bar fridge with a small freezer, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, water, wine and champagne glasses, coffee cups, coffee plunger and ice bucket. There is an assortment of cooking utensils.
We also provide an assortment of cereal, 1 loaf of bread, butter, jam, of course the Australian staple Vegemite, tea, coffee, drinking chocolate, sugar and 1 litre of milk so you dont need to leave the apartment to enjoy breakfast on the balcony overlooking the Esplanade. If you need more groceries, Woolworths supermarket ( open from 8.00 to 21.00) is 5 minute walk away or the Night Owl Convenience store (open from 6am to 1 am) is situated a few meters away from the downstairs lift.
The kitchen is open spaced onto the living room. In the living room we have a sofa bed, TV, DVD player, Stereo with an attachment to plug your phone or music devices.
The balcony has seating for four people to enjoy the luxury views over the Ocean, Esplanade and pool. You can also see Green Island in the distance on a clear day.
For our smaller guests, we have a porta-cot (crib) with linen and pillow, high chair and stroller, Teddy Bear towel and suitable plates, cups and spoons. (Please let us know if any of these things are required).
You will be able to experience everything the resort has to offer. The Swimming pool is on Level 2, and there are 2 different BBQ areas and seating in the tropical gardens. The Gym is also on level 2 (please ask the reception staff for the key)
Reception is on Level 1.
Guests also have access in the reception area to Beach Towels, Filtered Water, Ice and umbrellas in case of rain.
If you are driving or hiring a car, there are 16 Free Parking spaces, labelled, "Breakfree Royal Harbour" at 60 Abbott Street (you drive up the ramp). This is also where reception is located and the key safe for access to the building. The car parks are first come first served for guests. There are also car parks available for $1.00 per hour in the car park.
Secure Baggage Storage is available at Reception - Level 1 from 0800 to 1800 hours.
As we don't live in this apartment complex we will give you the secure key access to the lifts and room if we are not available to meet you. We are available via telephone or AirBnb messaging and live about 10 minutes away.
In an emergency with water, electricity, or major maintenance issues with the apartment please contact the reception desk, or the after hours manager (by using the telephone at the reception desk). All other issues should come to Nico or Emma.
One of the delights of being on the Esplanade, is the ambience. You will witness the activity that goes on at the Lagoon, boats and helicopters coming to and from the Great Barrier Reef and the fun along the Esplanade. At different times of the year you could experience, fireworks displays, concerts, the Cairns Ironman, Street Parades and much more. Check the Carins City Council website for what is on.
If absolute quiet and tranquility is what you require, then our place is not for you, but if you want to be part of the scene and the vitality that is Cairns then we are perfectly located.
Smoking on the balcony only. If you do smoke on the balcony then please close the patio doors.
Smoking indoors or with the balcony door open, will trigger the fire alarm, resulting in a $1200 fire brigade attendance fee. Additional cleaning costs of $350 will also be incurred.
When using the shower/bath/spa please close the bathroom door. Steam has been known to set off the fire alarms.
Please familiarise yourself with the fire alarm cut off switch located in the kitchen. If the fire alarm does go off, then you can turn it off within 30 seconds manually at the switch on the wall next to the bathroom. (Instructions are written on the wall). You must also open balcony doors to clear the smoke and use a paper or magazine to fan away any smoke from the fire alarm receptor located on the ceiling.
This is not a party hotel. Please be mindful of noise control and be considerate of the other guests both on your balcony and in the public areas. Being evicted is not a nice way to spend your holiday. Your bond and any remaining nights will not be refunded.
