The castle in Arc-en- Barrois has since the Middle Ages belonged to changing princes, royal families and nobility men . At the 1789 revolution destroyed the palace in part and confiscation of the first republic , but by the monarchy re-entry in 1830 came King Louis - Philippe ( regent (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) ) and the Orleans family again possessing any of the castle and its vast land available. The king handed it later to his sister Princess Adelaide d'Orleans , who was the king's close adviser .
Princess Adelaide udviddede and rebuilt the castle to its present form as a hunting lodge between 1844 and 1848. She experienced never Castle finished when she died in 1846. It is her nephew , Prince of Joinville who inherits and the castle remains in Orleans family ownership after the fall of the monarchy the 1848th.
