Enjoy this relaxing vintage home just blocks from gorgeous Seward Park. It was built in 1910 and has been fully updated for modern life. Your host Jenny has lived in the neighborhood for 10 years and is happy to help you find the best Seattle has to offer. The home is walking distance to not only Seward Park and Lake Washington but also Cafe Vita (one of Seattle's best roasters), 2 family friendly restaurants and a lovely book store. It's the true Seattle experience!
This is a single-family home in the heart of Seward Park neighborhood. You will have access to the entire home for a private and relaxing retreat. The space is great for families or couples travelling together. There is technically room to sleep 6, but 2 of those beds are bunk beds designed for children. The house will comfortably accommodate 4 adults or a family of 6.
The house is full of windows and is a bright open space. The main level is an open floor plan with a kitchen, dining space and seating/TV area. The couch pulls out to a queen bed. The bathroom is located on the main level.
Upstairs is the master bedroom that contains the queen bed. In the same room, there is a small alcove off of the main bedroom that contains the bunk beds. There are great territorial views from the master bedroom.
There is a lovely front porch with chairs and a table to sit and enjoy coffee or a glass of wine. The yard is a private oasis enclosed by plum trees. In the summer, feel free to take advantage of the abundance of plums to make plum crisp or jam.
Your getaway home is centrally located with easy access to the airport, downtown, Columbia City, Capitol Hill, University District and the First Hill medical center. It is about a mile and a half from the light rail system that runs from the airport to downtown and University of Washington.
If you're looking for the quintessential Seattle coffee experience, two of the best coffee shops in Seattle are accessible by foot. Cafe Vita, one of the top roasters, is just 3 blocks north. Empire Espresso, in my opinion the best coffee in Seattle, is located in Columbia City, about a 15 minute walk (or 2 minute drive).
If you're looking for the fresh NW air, Seward Park and Lake Washington are just down the hill and offer miles of amazing hiking and biking trails. Seward Park also has a great play park for the kids and an Audubon center where they can learn about animals in the park.
Guests will have full access to the main areas of the house. There is a washer and dryer in the unfinished basement, which is accessed by a separate basement door (accessed from outside). Guests should work with me if they would like access.
The house is accessed by uneven stone stairs leading up to the house plus stairs on the front porch leading to the front door. There are also stairs that lead to the upstairs bedroom.
Parking is free and there is plenty of street parking available. This is a quiet residential neighborhood and everyone parks in front of their house.
The house is in a residential neighborhood. Please be respectful of the neighbors. No loud music or parties.
If you bring a dog, please do not leave them alone in the house as they may bark and disturb the neighbors.
I will be available to you to help with any questions, but will leave you to enjoy your trip. I live less than a mile away, so I can be there quickly if you need anything.
