Amber's cabin was the perfect remote getaway for us. We loved the drive up, and even saw a Moose mama and her calf (I love moose, so this was a big highlight for me)! Amber is super friendly and warm, greeted with a big smile. Just a few of the highlights:
The Lake: Beautiful and private, not a soul on it. We rowed around, had lunch on the lake...saw a bald eagle and got up close with some loons! Didn't get a chance to SUP, hoping to come back soon and explore some more.
The Cabin: We slept like a rock on the warm, comfy bed. Waking up to the view across the lake was spectacular each morning. The outhouse was clean and comfortable to use. Loved the decor! Quiet and private, Amber's cabin met all of our needs.
The Animals: We saw 2 day old baby pigs, goats, chicken, a farm kitty, gorgeous white farm dogs and a Cow calf (named Little) hung out with us at the cabin. Can't forget Becky the duck, who lives on the dock in front of the cabin.
The Food: OMG, Amber's farm fresh goods were so tasty. We made the most amazing eggs and bacon for breakfast. Had fresh cow cream for our coffee and banana raspberry quark. One evening they even made some fresh mocha ice cream with chunks of chocolate in it for us! Her herb goat cheese was to die for...we took extra for the road. If you are a foodie, try everything.
As a Guest, be prepared: it is a REAL working farm. If you are uncomfortable with a little dirt, animals hanging around, and some of the realities of farm life...then this may not be the place for you. If you want a true friendly, rustic, farm vacation, then this is your place. We absolutely loved it.
