This is a studio apartment with it's own bathroom and kitchen. Sleeps up to 9 people. For larger groups, we have another room upstairs we can add.
This is a self-contained apartment with it's own kitchen, toilet and shower. It's on the ground floor and is suitable for all types of groups or families. Becuase it's on the ground floor, it is also suitable for the disabled, elderly, children and even people with pets.
From here you can get a bus to all the major attractions of London and the Elephant and Castle underground/surface station is just five minutes by bus.
It is fully furnished with TV, Fridge, Bedsheets, and free WIFI. The kitchen furnished with most kitchen necessities which includes pots, fridge/freezer, microwave, gas cooker, blender, washing machine, etc. I don't live there myself so you'll feel free to do just what you like (like not breaking anything ;- )).
The apartment is Located very near the center of London and there is an option of up to 10 different buses going to London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Westminster, London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, Madame Tussaud, Waterloo, Trafalgar square etc with the longest being just about 15 mins. The London Underground is also nearby, just 5 mins bus ride away at the Elephant and Castle underground station where you can get trains to anywhere in London.
There are also a huge array of restaurants, shops, clubs and supermarkets around. It is really a buzzing environment with a busy night-life. We have some good shops around like Tesco, Marks & Spencer, the famous East Street Market, etc. There are Spanish, Italian, Indian, African restaurants just across the road. The area is rich with a cultural mix, a true slice of multi-ethnic London at your doorstep. All windows are double glazed which cuts out the majority of street noise of this busy part of London.
What makes Ruskin unique is the friendly atmosphere, the price and the centrality of the location. It is very difficult to find a place to stay in central London for the same price.
Please always remember to leave a FEEDBACK (even if it is 'positive'). I appreciate them as they enable me improve the service I provide.
Travelling From Heathrow:
The cheapest mean would be by train, however if you have heavy luggage you might struggle as you will need to change train at least once, including one bus ride from Elephant and Castle. If you decide to take a train, take the Piccadilly line to Piccadilly station, from there change to Bakerloo line and take that to the end at Elephant and Castle. From there it's just one bus ride to John Ruskin street. When you come out of the station, ask where to get a bus going to Camberwell, from there take either bus (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or 468. Tell the driver you're going to Burgess Park bus stop. Burgess park b/s is just 3 minutes walk from the house. Alternatively, just take a taxi from Heathrow, could cost over £60 though.
Access to the building is by a code (number) which you will be given once your booking is confirmed. Your room (or flat) will be unlocked when you arrive and you will find the key inside the room in the door. The means you can arrive anytime you like, mostly after noon and check out as well without needing to wait for me to either collect or give you any keys.
Most guests just want to get on with their stay in London, but some are up for a nice chat which I am always happy to do and have had a great many time with wonderful guests from all over the world.
The kitchen is on the ground floor, you're free to use it as you please. With the gas cooker, you have to press it in, turn it and ignite it while still holding the knob in. Once lighted, hold for about 3 seconds before leaving the knob. Please put on the extraction fan while cooking. There are cups, pots and cutleries - all for your use.
When CHECKING OUT, please just leave the keys inside the keyhole inside the room.
