My place is close to public transport and family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the location.

This room has an outdoor kitchenette with two burner propane hob, gas freezer (it is really cold) and wash up on the verandah overlooking jungle. The bathroom with shower, hand basin and toilet is adjacent but not attached to the cabana, less than 10 yards away. The bed is comfortable and the wooden shutters all around with the high peaked thatch roof keep it cool.

The restaurant and bar are close by. Wifi access is available here. Guests have full access to all the trails, creeks and swimming pool when it is open. We have a small book exchange in the main house. Various board games, a mini pool table, table tennis, badminton, volley ball and boule are available to all our guests - just ask. We even have a croquet set!

Owner Kevin is always on site, or in his absence a stand in manager is here. Restaurant opens for meals when pre-arranged.

The property is an organic cacao farm and we will be happy to arrange a traditional chocolate making demonstration for you as well as a tour of the fermenting and drying shed and cacao plantation.

Many other medicinal plants are grown here and we also have a very interesting permaculture garden.

Birdwatchers love the various habitats on the property and we can arrange an excellent bird guide to accompny keen birders and introduce new birders to the many different species commonly seen here.

We love our big dogs - all four of them, and our tiny cat who rules over them. They will be the first to meet you on arrival and will lead you back to the house if you take them with you on walks. Our turkeys roam around freely and sometimes take a stroll through the front garden, We are off the grid and power is supplied by generator which is run for a few hours a day, and solar panels charge batteries for lights at night. We are in the jungle and sometimes our visitors have more than two legs!

We stayed with Renee and Kevin for a few days this Christmas. The cabana was nice, simple but had everything you need. What I would recommend is a car, don't go here if you are going by bus because it makes you feel a bit stranded at the place. It is also a Inn, but we were the only guests and the place felt a bit gloomy and dark since there is no power more than for like an hour at night, just enough for you to take a shower. Also make sure you bring some power charger for your phone since it's not really enough time to charge them when the generator is on. The nature in the area is great, and we had nice walks with their dogs around the estate.

We are off the grid but have solar lights. The generator is run for showers and charging equipment. Buses run past the property on regular schedules.

I wish more AirBNB hosts would be like Kevin, Renee, and their son Dylan. The experience we had at the Farm Inn was incredible. Kevin and Dylan were hosts for the bulk of our trip as Renee was working in Placencia but they are a wealth of humor and knowledge about local flora, fauna, and culture. The Farm Inn is an actual working cacao farm with a permaculture garden of papaya, pineapple, peppers, coffee and other herbs and spices. Kevin was quick to give a tour of the property which had 3 fresh water creeks the surrounded the property. When we met Renee she was incredibly hospitable, kind and knowledgable. She knows a lot and between the three of them, they answered every question. The swimming and hiking on their farm was unbelievable. The property is seriously beautiful and offers up as much adventure as would like. The Farm Inn doubles as a restaurant that served one of the best meals we had on our trip. We travelled most of Belize and had great meals, but nothing compared to the flavorful multicultural meals served on-site. Our room had a kitchen attached. We used that kitchen to prepare our own breakfasts which was great because it stared into the jungle as was very private. We never worried about food on this part of the trip. Not only that, but they give you a three gallon jug of bottled water that you can use to stay hydrated. If you haven't been to Belize, it's a must. Our room was exactly what we needed. It was a great base for going and exploring the Toledo district and a mid-day nap. It thunderstormed heavily one night while we were there and the room was bone dry. The thatched roof held up like a charm. If you're looking for the perfect balance between relaxation and adventure then you're absolutely going to love this room. This is a great home-base for seeing all the ruins, spice farms, and national parks southern Belize has to offer. You seriously won't regret the opportunity to stay at the place. Truly an AirBNB gem.

I manage a busy yacht charter operation and am co-owner of The Farm Inn, an organic chocolate farm with a guesthouse and restaurant, which is run by my husband Kevin, who lives on the farm. We sailed our own yacht from South Africa to the Caribbean with our children who are now adults with their own families. We have been working in the hospitality industry for 15 years and enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and introducing them to the beauty of southern Belize. We love the simple life, being at one with nature and keeping it real. Kevin is very practical and loves the farming aspect of our business, learning daily from the Mayan people around us. I love birding and generally spend my days at The Farm Inn with binoculars glued to my face and a reference book in hand.
We like people who are interested in everything around them, who join in and who understand that "off the grid" means no air conditioning and slow internet service to no internet service at times. We love dogs and have four big friendly dogs who are part of the family, so expect our guests to acept their presence
