The cabin is in a secluded orchard, in a gorgeous part of the Island. The orchard is part of our 7 acres of land. The rest is woodland & wild flower meadow. There's a compost toilet, gas powered shower, washing up area, hammock and a wood-fired pizza oven. (Shared with the other hut) There's also table tennis & other games. There's a great pub & village shop nearby. If you see my other listing you will find the shepherd's hut, also in the orchard. Why not get together with friends and rent both?
About the Shepherd's Hut
I built the hut in the summer of 2014, using many local and reclaimed materials. It's built on a caravan chassis and is approx 14' long by 7' wide. The hut has a full sized double mattress and also a folding single bed suitable for an adult or child. There is solar powered lighting, a table and chairs, a two ring gas cooker with a grill, kettle, saucepans, cutlery. There are plates, cups and glasses. I usually leave tea-bags, coffee and home-made jam in the cupboard, please help yourself to any of these you need. There's a bird feeder and a squirrel feeder - we have red squirrels here, no greys! The small windows tilt open, and the big windows opposite the bed open too. The doors can be hooked open. The hut has no heating, but I usually have a few tea-lights going (please be really careful with these as it's a wooden building with lots of curtains!), and bring a warm blanket for the bed if the forecast is for cold weather. If you wish to use the folding single bed please bring a sleeping bag for this or contact me to arrange bedding if you can't bring some. Please do not smoke in the hut.
There's a compost toilet, shower hut, hammock, benches with table and pizza oven - these are shared with the other hut. The whole 7 acres of woodland and meadow is available to enjoy.... a lovely place to observe nature, climb trees and relax.
I go out to maintain the land at times, especially on Tuesdays. Sometimes a forest school uses the woodland for a few hours. I will try and meet you on arrival to show you round, but can't always manage this. I'm happy to answer any questions but will leave you to enjoy the place otherwise!
Please see my other listing - a shepherd's hut in the same orchard. Why not book both huts with friends or family?
