Located in the town of Tkon, island of Pašman. House is situated only five minutes from the beach and the center of town. Apartment is nicely furnished and fully equipped, with air condition, internet connection, Tv/Sat Tv, BBQ, terrace with sea view and provided parking spot. Great choice for family vacation.
My place is close to restaurants and dining, the beach, family-friendly activities, public transport, and nightlife.
Tkon was built compactly. In the past, it was formed on a hillock, and today it spread all the way to the sea. It was first mentioned by the name Katav in 10th CT. By Constantine Porfirogenet, Byzantine emperor. In one of the documents, dating c. 1363, the settlement was mentioned by the name ‘Cun’ – Kun, which is also a nowadays name used by the local inhabitants. Official name Tkon has been used since 1840.
Tkon bases its development on ferry port, where more than half of million passengers and more 200 000 vehicles pass through the village during the year.
If you are visiting Tkon, you have an excellent opportunity of visiting the only men Benedictine monastery in Croatia, the monastery of Sts Kuzma and Damjan on mount Ćokovac, which is easily approachable walking afoot. Close to Tkon, on mount Kalvarija (Calvary), there is a small church The Lady of seven mourns (Gospa sedam žalosti), which is also very nice to see. About 2 kilometers away from Tkon, there is a fort ‘Pustograd’, built in the 6th Century.
Southwestern side of the island is easily approachable by partially asphalted road and by a macadam path. There are about 4,5 km from the center of Tkon to the other side of the island. There are several beaches in Tkon. They are all sand, and the best one is in the FKK camp.
From the surrounding hills a spectacular view of the nearby islands and the Kornati archipelago stretches before your eyes.
The small port is shielded from all types of winds and waves; smaller yachts can be anchored next to the breakwater.
The parish church of St. Thomas was built in 1742. On the main altar there is a painting of the Mother of God whose authorship is attributed to Zadar painter Petar Jordanic who lived at the end of the 15th century. On the Cokovac hill lies the only active Benedictine convent in Croatia, the convent of Sv. Kuzma and Damjan dating back to the 12th century, which is a popular destination for the lovers of historical and spiritual heritage. There is a large self-service shop, a small market, a post office, a medical clinic, a stationary store, a newsstand and the offer of fresh fruit, vegetables, fish and meat is excellent.
Several coffee shops and restaurants, one of which has a big terrace near the sea and live music, complete the tourist offer of this island town. Undisturbed peace and immediate contact with nature represent the good points of Tkon in contrast to bigger tourist centers. This small town is a guarantee of rest and ship communication with the town of Biograd provides diverse entertainment possibilities.
