This home was a derelict home just a few short years ago. We are constantly updating as time and money allows. Currently it is peaceful, and pleasant with normal older home flaws. We do not pretend it is perfect. We love ❤️ our home enough to share with you. We think you will find it charming as many others before you have.
We don't mind late check in times. Road warriors can have peace of mind that your Bed is waiting for you to fall into, upon your arrival
We live on site. Your room is on the opposite of side of our home with the living room in between for your privacy.
Please feel free to hangout with us, if you wish.
Small full bath is shared with other guest room if booked. It is located right outside your door.
Pets live on this property, currently 1 female 10lb dog (small and kept kenneled at your arrival, and if you are not into dogs we understand that and will keep them out of your way. They NEVER go into guest rooms. Outside chickens, with a Rooster.. so you may hear him, if that is offensive to you, or you are a light sleeper, an easy fix is to turn the fan on the window unit or ceiling fan. Fridge small is probably available. Please don't eat in your room, Ants all sizes will find you asap. Food trash should be thrown away in the kitchen or bin outside.
We are as available as you need us to be. Some travelers are exhausted and just want peace and quiet, this is no problem. Others want to share life experiences and we have stories to tell.. We will take your lead. Just because we are hanging out in the living room doesn't mean u should feel pressured to mingle...however we will gladly make room for you. Your bed room is separated by the living room, giving you privacy after hours.
One family dog Bella, comes and goes as she please thru her special door. At any given time some of our grown children may be here, but will not impact your stay. This is an older post WWII cottage home, they were built smaller and more compact. Do not feel like you will be squeezed tight, check out our pictures for its char m.

Let me spoil you for a night or two or more. La Voile cottage is not big, or trendy. It's is small town Alabama, Mobile is 20 minutes away. More or less depending on traffic. It is a wonderful place to pass thru on your vacation. Many of our guests are going to or coming from New Orleans. Words we hear guests describing our place are; peaceful, serene, comfortable.
We have a one inside fur baby and our own chickens that provide your home-style breakfast. I've had the pleasure to cook for the nations it seems. I started training while in high school and have continued my entire life. We lived in Haiti for 16 years and raised our family there. If you are here long enough I can teach you how to make a traditional Haitian meal. Flavor and spices without too much heat.
We love music, reading, spending time with our family when we can. Tim and I have been married for over 30 years, and we have 2 daughters and 4 sons. They are all mostly gone from home spread all around the US. 2 of our children are adopted from Haiti. So we are deeply interested in racial/immigration/education issues. We can talk about that if you would like or not at all. La Voile is the name of our cottage, because it means sailing or to sail away. There is a story tied to the name. You should expect to be received into an atmosphere where your cares and needs are met for the duration of your stay. Can't wait to meet you, Ann and Tim
