Ever wonder what a true log cabin is like? Come and enjoy our beautiful home in a special part of PEC with over 230 feet of private Lake Ontario waterfront.
Inside the secluded, private cottage you will find a comfortable open-concept living, dining and kitchen area featuring a well-equipped kitchen, wood stove, and a kitchen table that seats 6 - perfect for family meals or playing games.
Explore South Bay by kayak, relax under the shade trees, or use it as a base to explore The County.
Half Moon Bay Cottage is an honest-to-goodness log home, built in 1983 from 10” diameter solid Northern Ontario pine logs. It was built using the “scribed log” building technique in which the underside of each log is carefully hollowed out to fit precicely on top of the log below.
The cottage is not huge, but has a nice open concept configuration with three separate bedrooms and a bathroom with shower.
We have recently upgraded the stove and fridge, and are working hard to keep the home welcoming and enjoyable for guests.
You will have access to the entire home, and grounds, but please note that there are a couple of sheds on the property that will be locked.
We do not expect to socialize with our guests as we live in the GTA, but please feel free to contact us if you have questions.
We have recently purchased a pair of rugged kayaks, that you are most welcome to enjoy.
Fires in the firepit, overlooking Half Moon Bay, and Prince Edward Bay are a tremendous way to enjoy Lake Ontario sunsets, but to have a fire in Prince Edward County, you must have a current Burn Permit and activate it every day before you have a fire.
We purchase a Burn Permit each year, but it is your responsibility to activate it if you plan to have a fire. The permit is located in the cabinet beside the wood stove. To activate the permit, please call the County’s automated Burn Notification Hotline at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) and enter the four-digit number at the top of our Burning Permit using your telephone keypad.
Hi, my name is Jonathan.
My wife, Bev and I are both business professionals living in the GTA.
Our home away from home is on Lake Ontario in the south east corner of Prince Edward County.
We have two children that are in high school, preparing for university.
Prior to purchasing the cottage, for 18 years, we had a beautiful sailboat which we kept at the Port Credit Yacht Club. We raced it successfully, but also enjoyed extended cruises that took us to the 1000 islands as well as Prince Edward County - where we first got to know its bays, wineries, and people.
We now look forward to sharing our unique log home in Prince Edward County.
