Siddhi is one of our latest houses… and our smallest. However, its size is a big part of its charm. A solid teak lumbung beautifully carved, just big enough for a queen size bed that sits snuggly in the room and doubles as a day lounger. The bed is extra thick (very comfortable) foam and sits on the floor, so this is not the house for those who don’t like living at floor level, or have trouble getting up and down. The whole house is raised up and looks out over the jungle.
Siddhi is one of our smallest houses. Also if you feel you have to have an actual mattress, this will not suit you. The whole house is raised up and looks out over the jungle. We replaced 2 of the walls with glass, so the vistas all around are breathtaking. There is an outside bale connected to the house that creates extra living space and is ideal for working, (it has an International socket for a lap-top).
It is self contained and very private, ideal for those who enjoy communing with nature. It is also the perfect little “love nest” for couples. Cosy, intimate living in the most idyllic location, this house is also perfect for solo travelers, an ideal spot for solitude, meditation, contemplation or simply lounging. The house is adjacent to other houses but doesn’t look out over any. It is surrounded by a living fence, fruit trees and vegetable gardens and is a veritable mini “garden of eden”.
There is a safe in the closet and some baskets for storage, it has its own bathroom that is outside, but is attached to the house and just a few safe steps away. There is also closet and storage space and a small refrigerator, and eating utensils and plates and cups. It does not have cooking facilities, but we of course have our on-site warung. The bathroom is cheerfully decorated, has an outdoor shower and abundant hot water. There is a sitting area outside, with stone furniture (surprisingly comfortable) for dining or writing. All in all this little house has everything you could ask for to be comfortable, private and surrounded by nature.
We can comfortably accommodate 2 people. There is one double bed, and we do not have any extra portable beds on the property.
There is a full sized pool, sitting overlooking the jungle.
Breakfast is not included with any of our rentals. We do however offer an optional set breakfast for RP60,000 per person. Rather than raise our prices to include it, we offer the choice of paying for it or not. There is a refrigerator and eating utensils at the house.
As noted, all of our homes (except the jungle huts) are made from old reclaimed wooden Javanese houses. Each is completely unique and we have adapted them to provide the maximum light and spaciousness in keeping with the natural environment. Consequently what we have aimed for is light and nature rather than soundproofing. This is not the right property for those who want to party or make a lot of noise. Each house is private and self-contained but still they are adjacent to one another.
If someone has booked the whole property then of course they can do as they wish, within reason, we also do not want to disturb the village!
So please note that when considering our property, this is a place for those looking for calm and quiet, (although the frogs and roosters can be quite loud!). Nature rules here and our objective here is to be in tune with it rather than drowning it out.
We thank all future guests for appreciating and respecting this.
Please do not negotiate on the price, we are not charging high or low seasonal rates, and we are priced to function effectively while giving our guests the best value for their money. Thank you for respecting this.
The 10m pool is currently shared by 8 different homes, although it is rare for all to be occupied at the same time, unless the entire property is rented as a whole.
We have easy access by motorbike or car (taxi services can be arranged) to Ubud, the cultural centre of Bali. The 30 minute drive is breathtaking, winding through the jungle, rice fields, river valleys and several traditional villages.
Ubud abounds with restaurants, shops, spas, yoga, cooking, batik and art classes along with many healing modalities. It has several art galleries and a museum. Evenings offer Balinese dance performances, Fire ceremonies and Gamelan.
We are a one and a half hour drive from the airport, one hour from the nearest beaches and half an hour from Kintamani, which is on the edge of the volcano, Mount Batur.
Siddhi and the surrounding rice fields themselves are in a unique and tranquil setting. Higher than Ubud towards the foothills of the volcano, it is tropical but not as hot as the beach areas. There are less mosquitoes but wildlife is abundant.
Siddhi has a manager, cleaner and gardener. Laundry can be done for an additional fee.
The property is completely private and self contained with a living fence dividing it from adjacent properties. Those adjacent properties being similar converted old teak buildings. There is excellent wi-fi, a clear view of rice fields and jungle, car or scooter parking just 5 minutes away.
PLEASE NOTE, THIS PROPERTY IS ON THE EDGE OF LIVING, WORKING RICE FIELDS, AND JUNGLE AND THERE ARE CREATURES AROUND. THE PROPERTY. IT IS THOROUGHLY CLEANED DAILY (INCLUDING THE BEDS STRIPPED AND SWEPT), BUT THE ODD ANT, FROG, LIZARD OR OTHER LOCAL CREATURE MAY ENCROACH ON OCCASION. IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH, SENSITIVE OR HAVE ANY KIND OF AVERSION TO SUCH A POSSIBILITY, THEN WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU CHOOSE ANOTHER OF THE BALI LOCATIONS THAT IS NOT SO MUCH A PART OF THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. WE DO NOT HAVE AC, AND CHOOSE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE NATURAL BREEZES.
Although only 13 km from Ubud, we are uphill all the way, towards the volcano area. The temperature here is generally several degrees cooler than in Ubud. Comforters are needed on occasion and AC would be defunct.
Check in is any time after 2:00 pm.
Access is a 5 minute walk along a paved rice field path, with one short 5 meter stretch being unpaved, ensuring more of the real Bali experience, but not for the extreme elderly or infirm. Please note the 2nd photograph clearly shows the path.
There is a staff kitchen and enclosed area on the property strictly for our employees where they cook, do laundry, all their other tasks, and take their breaks. We ask guests to not enter this area and to allow our staff their private space.
We highly recommend guests use our drivers for your initial arrival at the property, we are in quite a remote and sparsely sign-posted area. We will give you the most concise directions we have, but it can still be challenging to find. We are not responsible for any delays should you choose to arrive independently. We guarantee that our drivers are all reliable, safe and trustworthy, and will not take you anywhere for commercial purposes only.
We have a yoga hall that is a separate rental. The cost is $15 an hour, or $100 for a full day. When not being used it serves as a storage area for all the yoga equipment, and our staff often use it as work space. We ask that guests not use it for any activity, but you are of course welcome to use all other public spaces. Several of the rooms are large enough for yoga, and you are welcome to use the pool area also. We have mats that we can lend our guests.
We are fully available to our guests, and although there is not always someone on site, we provide local mobile phones so we can be reached at any time.
There is daily cleaning, pool maintenance and gardening included. Daily offerings are made at the houses and temples on the land by our Balinese help. Should you want complete privacy at any time, then we will fully respect that, just please let us know. However, offerings have to be accommodated at some time most days, plus we do need to attend to the edible gardens, and we ask that respect this.
We strongly recommend you use our drivers for airport transfers, the property is quite challenging to find, and our drivers know exactly where to go and will carry your bags in for you. They all charge the going rate and will meet you at the terminal with a sign. If you choose to come independently we cannot be held accountable for any delays or inconveniences you experience, a disclaimer spoken from experience!
Check in is any time after 2:00 pm.
For arrivals at the property at or after 7:00 pm there is a late check-in fee of Rp 150,000. This is because our staff only works until then, and our managers live a 40 minute drive away, therefore they will either have to wait or come back just to check you in. This late fee will not apply if you use one of our drivers to bring you to the house, as they will also be able to walk you and your bags into the house and complete the check in process for you. They are all either family members or completely familiar with our property. The manager will then see you the following morning.
If late check out is available (after 12 pm) it is Rp 50,000 per hour, and after 6 pm it is one full nights rental. We will be willing to hold onto your bags until 4.30 pm, but our staff leaves then so if you are not staying with us all bags must be picked up by then. Early check-in (before 2 pm) is also Rp 50,000, before 8 am it is a full night's rental.
All guests have access to the dining area and pool. The yoga hall is a separate rental, please contact us directly regarding this.
This property is not suitable for partying unless the whole property is rented
