I live in Florida but fly up there to enjoy it often. Two cabins exist, a 4 room that sleeps up to 5 and this two room that sleeps up to three (queen bed and a couch). I use whichever is not rented. A local housekeeper is available for any immediate questions and cleanup between rents.
There is a wood burning stove- nice to sit by when cold. There is a gas wall heater that usually is adequate but there also are electric heat sources if necessary.
Instant hot water heating system provides a comfortable shower.
Dogs are welcome, but there will be an extra $10 exit cleaning fee.
A restaurant is located in the small village of West Cornwall, 1&1/2 mile south, with its one lane covered bridge over the river...a nice photo spot.
The local country store is in Cornwall Bridge, about 6 miles south. There you can pick up some food items, even have a hot or cold meal inside or on the porch. They have good homemade items. A gas station is before the store. There is also a small country style Catholic Church around there.
Falls Village, a village with its public library and an Inn with a bar and restaurant is about 5 miles north off Route 7. An electrical power generating station diverts most of the river there. A pleasant walk will take you to a beautiful view below the dam, even walk on the rock ledges.
The big town of Canaan is about 17 miles north. It has pizza, subs, some small restaurants, liquor store, supermarket, and even a Dollar Store and MacDonalds.
- Two other properties exist past mine, each with a minimum of two acres so it is usually quiet and sometimes no others are there. If they are, just respect their rights to enjoy the peace.
Any used dishes should be washed. Place soiled linen and towels in hamper. Trash, especially food scraps, need to be put outside in trash can.
- The departure cleaning fee is $50

I'm 6'1", 182#, active 73 year old retired engineer. I enjoy the outdoors( gardening, fishing, golfing, hiking, canoeing) and indoors( former ballroom dance teacher, opera, ballet, concerts, plays/ musicals). I enjoy cooking, and trying to eat less meat...found some vegan dishes delicious.
I travel to different Latin American countries as a student, 3 weeks period, to learn some Spanish. It includes staying at a locals house where they feed me
breakfast and dinner and only talk Spanish...a little challenging !
I do travel a lot so have hired a local cleaning service that charges me $25/hour after each guest leaves. They end up charging $100 for the 4 room cottage and $50 for the 2 room as long as all the dishes have been washed by the guests.
I plan trips up to the cottage when not rented. I enjoy working on improvements to the cottages and the landscape. And i try to get in some fishing !!!
