Surrounded by gorgeous country views and great hiking trails. Our room is perfect for couples, business travelers, families with kids, or a luxurious place to stretch out for an individual traveler!
Welcome to Della Dea. Our home was built as a Greek Revival farmhouse in 1831, with an Italianate Victorian addition built onto the front in 1861. Your private space is an interior room off the main living room on the west side of the house. Plush king and queen size beds await adorned with jewel tones and soft floral accents. Four large windows on the west wall of your room allow for warm, wonderful natural light all day long, especially at sunset! Cross your room to enter the bathroom, with an original claw foot tub perfect for long soaks; from there enter into the kitchen and dining room with a bar-height table and chairs which seat up to 8. From the kitchen, exit the back door to find yourself on the deck. There's even a hammock in a secluded grove behind some lilac bushes!
Guests are welcome to access all parts of the first floor, including the porch, back deck, and yard.
With over 20 years of experience in customer service industry we at Della Dea pride ourselves on our world class service. Whether you need information on places to eat, sight seeing, shopping, or travel routes we will always advise you on ways to make your visit special. That being said, your interaction with us is entirely up to you - this space is closed off from the rest of the house in such a way that you can be completely private and we'll never see you, or you can choose to join us for family dinners or relaxing on the back deck. We will be delighted to offer tips on getting around Ithaca, shopping, restaurants, activities, and living like an Ithacan!
- Please enjoy meals and snacks in the dining room.
We are David and Isis and it will be our pleasure to host you.
We love thoughtful conversations on the back deck over tea in the morning and wine in the evening, going for hikes in all seasons through the many beautiful parks and preserves around Ithaca, reading in the hammock, cooking gourmet meals, and playing board and video games.
We are big readers, especially Isis, who is a teacher at one of the local Montessori schools. Our favorites are Lord of the Rings, The Dark Tower, Radical Homemaking, Conan the Cimmerian, children's literature, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society....
We are foodies, trying to eat conscientiously. We adore cheese, tapas, and homemade pasta and ice cream!
On a rainy Saturday, we'll hang out on the couch and watch The Incredibles or Anne of Green Gables with the kids, maybe have a Harry Potter marathon. Or we might play a board game like Settlers of Catan, or team up on the Xbox to shoot marauders in Borderlands 2. Or we might catch up on Netflix and watch a few episodes of Downton Abbey, or rewatch How I Met Your Mother. We've just started Game of Thrones, so there goes an entire weekend at a time ;)
And if we're just hanging out in the kitchen or on the back deck, Dave always has music going. Sometimes it's classic rock to educate the kids in Music History, sometimes it's mellow reggae, sometimes it's quiet classical while Isis cooks dinner - but the Grateful Dead is a touchstone!
