My husband and I stayed in Louise's apartment for two nights. It was simple, clean, and served it's purpose perfectly. The location is technically great--very close to restaurants, bars, and the main parts of town. I would hesitate to recommend staying here on weekend nights (Friday and Saturday), though, because there is a club next door that stays open until 5am. You can faintly hear the bass of the dance music through the walls, but the main issue is the crowd of people that stay outside the club, smoking/talking/fighting. We stayed on a Saturday and Sunday night. The first night was almost impossible to sleep because people were shouting at one another in the street until 6am, literally. On Sunday, the club was closed and we enjoyed a wonderful, quiet night's sleep.
If you are driving, there's a public parking lot right near the apartment with reasonable rates. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Saint-Etienne.
