We hope you'll feel you're staying with friends when here as we're not as impersonal as a B&B. Less than a minute to promenade and then you're in beautiful Largs and the ferry to Cumbrae. We can store bicycles in our garage and there's ample on-street parking. We also have a double bedroom listed 1/2. You're welcome to use kitchen facilities & living room with TV. We have a small friendly Jack Russell cross & work from home. More importantly the kettle is always on for a cuppa, chat & biscuits!


The space is a nice size double with memory foam mattress, duck feather duvet and pillows. Mattress and pillow protectors are fitted.

There is central heating in the room, usually off as a warm room but just ask and we are happy to put this on for you.

Newly decorated with original art in the room and prints. It also has a dressing table and wardrobe with shelf and drawers. The bed has 2 drawers that can also be used.

Sep/Oct 17 saw the bathroom remodelled with a double walk in power shower instead of bath. Pictures will be uploaded shortly.

It is a lovely quiet room and directly next to the bathroom.

We are willing to consider children (not babies) as long as you contact us first but they would be sharing in your room as a second person.

Remember here you're paying for the room and use of other facilities in our home. So we see it as a unique offer! We don't expect our guests to stay in their rooms!

Please note we will never enter your room unless invited to do so or unless we feel there is a safety reason to do so and yo will be informed of this.

We don't allow Orla (our small dog) into the room unless guests invite her in!

The house is very homely and we hope you'll enjoy being here. Filled with pieces of art and books you also can choose to spend time in the upstairs den if you'd prefer watching a movie instead of TV! The choice is yours!

The apartment is on a first floor of a block of 4 apartments called "villas" (no idea why) built in, or around, 1877. There is a wide staircase to the apartment

As hosts, we want you to have an affordable, pleasant stay so please do ask about longer term stay discounts. We know we are significantly cheaper than B&B and Hotels in the area.

"“The room is beautiful with luxurious bedding and soft furnishings. There was a range of complimentary toiletries for my use which was very convenient as I had travelled by plane. Little touches like fresh flowers in the room along with magazines made my stay very relaxing. The whole apartment was exceptionally clean with the added bonus of well equipped kitchen containing a range of appliances including an ice machine. I was able to use my laptop anywhere in the apartment and receive good wi fi connection. I would highly recommend this comfortable home from home to other users.”

Children - we are open to requests to bring children who are older so please ask. We do have stairs up to the apartment and this would be a shared bed. We do have a single bedroom also listed. This can be booked separately.

A single bedroom is also listed as Private Single Bedroom in Period Apartment 2/2.

We are open to offers for long term stays.

We will consider dogs for short stays but we say no so contact is made first to discuss.


Ample on street parking (no permit required). We are less than a 10 minute walk from train station and both ends of the street have bus stops linking to local amenities and further afield.

You will have access to our kitchen, amenities, wifi and a workspace (located upstairs) if required - one desk can be made available but you're also welcome to work in kitchen or sitting room. You can also use sitting room with satellite TV.

Garden and summer house is there also for use. Back court is shared. Garden is private. A garage exists where bicycles can be left securely.

The bell to use is MCINTOSH/WOODFORD but the storm and inner doors are usually open so just come in and go up to the right to the apartment.

Please note TV is NOT in bedroom but in sitting room, which you are free to use as we will be in the den upstairs. If others are in the double room then the rooms are there for all to share and use.

Please ask for anything. We want you to feel relaxed and happy here and hopefully return!


Richard works from home and is away periodically. I now work part time so you may find you are arriving and departing alone, using key safe, if working times clash so one of us is normally around to answer questions or suggest places to visit.

You have our contact info so please don't hesitate to contact Colin at any point.

If there are any issues during your stay, please raise them immediately so we can resolve them for you, but we hope there won't be anything you don't have to make you feel relaxed!

We are usually upstairs in our private sitting room and office when at home.


We share our entrance with a neighbour so as that this is respected and you do not bang doors or be noisy entering or exiting the property.

We also have a double bedroom listed which may be occupied during your stay so others may be here but the apartment has plenty of space!

There are two short flights of wide steps to the apartment which is to the right and this is reached though storm doors and an inner door. Both are open but you will be given keys. Please do not ring bell at the storm doors as they will be open, just come through and up to the right to the apartment McIntosh/Woodford.

Please note we are happy to negotiate prices with a guest if staying longer than 5 nights so please do not be afraid to ask and happy to agree set prices if staying frequently (ie weekly or fortnightly).

We work from home - so usually around but upstairs in our office/den. Happy to provide a workspace in evenings or when we are not using it.

Most importantly, we share an entrance with our elderly neighbour and ask this is respected re noises levels at all times entering and exiting the apartment. The main white door is open so when you arrive you come through and up to the right to the apartment MCINTOSH/WOODFORD rather than ringing the bell downstairs.

We have a single bedroom that can also be used if needed for agreed. We are happy to provide this free of charge to families with contact first.

Please remember this is our home, you're a guest and we ask you relax and chill but respect our home and its contents.

There is no drinking or eating in the bedroom we expect you to use the kitchen due to the quality of the room which we know you'll appreciate.

We are close to bars, restaurants, sea-front and beaches and Largs area is amazing for cyclists and walkers.

We will be as flexible as possible with check in times so please don't be put off if you might arrive late as we have plenty of guests who arrive late.

The one room we ask that you do not enter is the main bedroom - where we sleep. The other is the upstairs working area These are our private spaces. We will be happy to show you the bedroom it as it has the original fireplace from 1877 but sadly it doesn't work!

Orla is a very friendly, quiet and dog who will bark when the doorbell goes and that's it. She is allowed everywhere else in the house and has beds or baskets in the sitting room, entrance hall, office space and den. She does not beg for food and we ask that guests don't feed her without our permission, during the day she will usually be in the den or kitchen with one of us.

Some of the time one of us, mainly Richard, may be away on business so you should be aware that we may not always both be here but one of us (usually Colin) will be here. We will always tell you if one of us will be away when you enquire/book.

If you wish to smoke, you can do so at the back of the property but not in the front garden. Please dispose of cigarette ends in bins externally.

Please do not remove make up using towels. We provide make up cleansing pads and wet wipes. It genuinely drives me potty!

Also please do not leave lights on when not in your room. We try to be as eco friendly as possible and appreciate your help!

A single bedroom is also listed so may be occupied during your stay but the apartment has plenty of room for all!

We are more than happy to answer any questions, so please ask. We want you to feel as relaxed and at ease in our home as you do in your own. Check in time is extremely flexible with notice as long as we don't have other guests - however you're welcome to arrive early and leave bags etc if this helps. Normally this check in would be from 4pm and check out by 11am.

Colin's flat is a beautiful Edwardian property with lovely large rooms that has been really well finished. It has a lovely bathroom with a good shower and beautifully equipped kitchen. Communication was excellent and instructions very good, Colin was really attentive and provided a lovely breakfast. The room was really comfortable with lovely clean sheets and a great bed. The house is lovely and the location good, a really good value for money option with a lovely host.

Definitely the place to stay if your coming to Largs. The hosts are extremely obliging and looked after us very well.

Colin, Richard & Orla the dog are great hosts. They go out of their way to help you in any way they can. I would recommend their B&B to everyone.

We had a great stay with Colin and Richard in their lovely home. Their proximity to the sea is a huge bonus. Very helpful hosts who've probably already though of everything you need before you know you need it!

I stayed in the apartment for 3 nights the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom were really good size. Both Colin and his partner are brilliant hosts and are both easy to talk to and helpful, I'd fully recommend staying there.

Hi. I'm Colin (to the left in the photo of Richard and myself). We enjoy meeting folk and having people to stay in our home and hope you'll feel comfortable and with friends here. We're thrilled by how many people choose to stay with us since we began in June 2016 and by the lovely reviews we've been getting. We enjoy reading, eating out, walking our dog, music, theatre and cinema. You'll see plenty of theatre and art related things around the house, although neither of us work in that field.
Richard works from home for Local Government and I do conferences for Schools as well as hosting. Please feel free to get in touch with any questions as we want you to feel as happy as you can be here! We feel we're unique in our offer as along with the room you get the use of the sitting room and kitchen so it's not just a room here but being part of the household!
