This appartment was really well located in the city centre of Aarhus. Apart from the paid parking (or maximum of 3 hours parking) in the entire neighbourhood and a bit of a small two-person bed, we think this appartment is really nice. Therefore, we give this appartment 4 out of 5 stars.
We stayed in this flat while on a family holiday with two kids aged 8 and 9, to visit the Ree Safari park (in Gravlev) and Djurs sommerland (in Nimtofte). The location was great for this, since the parks were around 1 hour drive away. We did not spend any time in Århus itself, though so not sure how the location is if you want to explore the city by foot or public transport BUT it was at least great if arriving on the boat from Copenhagen and easy to drive from to explore the region around Århus. While there are a couple of supermarkets and restaurants nearby during the day, most of it closed by 21, so keep that in mind if you come back “home” late and don’t want to starve! While the apartment was clean enough, it wasn’t sparkling. The bathroom could have used a better wash. In addition, after the host visited the apartment to fix the internet when we were out one day, he left his dirty dishes to us! We were really surprised about not being given any explanation about this. While the flat is located in a residential area, it might be a bit noisy for those with light sleep, since the flat is located near a train station that is busy all night. It is also close to the coast so there are many shore birds that start singing very early too (3 am). In addition, it is a rather low building, so you hear people walking pass at night too. Internet is mobile, so a bit unstable. There was a problem with it the first day, but the host fixed it the day after. Also, make sure you don’t accidentally turn off when turning on/off the lights of the flat because the router can run out of battery. While it is possible to find affordable parking around the flat, it was very difficult to find accurate information about it. The host suggested we parked outside the flat, because it was free 23-8 but he didn’t know where to get a parking ticket from. Since we were not able to find the machine, we got a 60 Euro fine. This could have been avoided had the host provided better information about the local parking procedure, such as rules and where to get the ticket from. There was street parking with a parking machine near by just a few hundred meters away and it was pretty cheap too ( 22kr per hour) but we used a lot of time to find this, and we got a fine in the process About the loft: It is NOT suitable for children! The loft barely fits the mattress and there is a very low “fence” that actually anyone could roll over, even an adult that moves around in his sleep a lot. The loft was also very warm, even with all the windows opened (which made downstairs very cold!). The stairs were very tricky...
