You really can't get more central than this. The apartment overlooks the famous King's Square and is literally one minute's walk from the Shambles. But location isn't everything and your comfort and enjoyment is key. We hope we've created a home from home that will make you want to return!
If you like people watching, you will love The Kings Apartment! With floor to ceiling windows overlooking a square which is full of history, host to the chocolate museum and a favourite stage for some of the best street performers, you can literally enjoy this constantly changing view from the comfort of your sofa. There's free Wifi and a smart TV, but we think you'll find entertainment enough on your doorstep.
The open plan kitchen and dining room is fully equipped so you can enjoy a lovely breakfast, lunch or dinner. But, remember, you have the Shambles market within a couple of minute's walk, so if you decide to dine indoors, make sure you go there to get the best local produce (and great advice on how to cook it!).
Our bedrooms and bathrooms are tasteful and sumptuous; quality beds, quality linen, quality towels and quality toiletries. You need a good night's sleep to make the most of your stay in this historic city. And, as we are in one of the most sought after locations in York, there's a major restriction on traffic, so it also happens to be one of the quietist locations you will find!
We present all of our guests with a welcome gift of wine and chocolates from Betty's, plus we provide essentials that should last you throughout your stay (you know, the boring stuff you don't want to think about on holiday, such as dishwasher tabs and tea bags).
All in all, the King's apartment is the perfect venue for a well deserved break or to celebrate a special occasion.
This is a self-contained apartment in a recently developed Georgian building. Guests have sole use of the entire apartment.
All our guests will be personally greeted by our property manager, Ken, who is a true local and can answer any questions and give you a tour of the apartment so you can settle in easily. There's a full information pack detailing all sorts about the apartment itself and local amenities, and Ken is available by phone should you have any questions during your stay.

Put simply, please treat the King's as if it were your own home.
It's a no smoking building and we respectfully ask guests to dispose of cigarette butts in external bins.
We are sorry but we don't accept hen or stag groups. We know you only want to have fun, but it's a small development and so we need to keep the noise down and, with the best will in the world, you won't be going to bed at ten o'clock!
We don't think the Kings is suitable for toddlers, but we do provide a cot and high chair for babies.
And, finally, no furry friends, except by special permission (for example, service dogs).

I'm not an owner host as I currently live abroad. In fact I'm a frequent "guest" at the King's, so I know firsthand what it's like to stay here!
Though I'm not living in York I am totally falling in love with it and plan to return here for good some day. It gives me great pleasure to share this beautiful city with people from all over the world.
I enjoy filling in the guest book with new discoveries each time I visit and I hope you do, too.
My husband and I love to travel and our first port of call is usually Airbnb because we like to stay in special places, often hosted by locals. I think you get to appreciate a place much more than when stopping in an anonymous hotel.
I am sure you will find the same staying at the Kings!
