Marvelous apartment in a modern building two blocks from the Ledru Rollin metro stop, and a comfortable 10 minute walk from Place de la Bastille. Although the nearest business street (Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine) is a bustling street at all hours, this apartment building is located on a quiet side street. It was not hot while we were there, so we didn't need the windows open, but the street appeared very quiet every night except for Saturday (when the post-event crowd from a nearby theatrical production was noisy). There are no laundry facilities, but there is a laundromat 3 blocks away.
The apartment is ideal for two parents and two kids, with a main bedroom and comfortable convertible sofas for the kids in the living room. The convertible sofas are large enough that you could probably sleep two small kids on one if you have three kids. The kitchen was excellently equipped, the wifi worked well, and we were in Paris. What more could you want? (Except to extend our vacation for several more day(URL HIDDEN)
Laura was not in town during our stay, but all our needs were met by her friend Anna. On the second day of our stay, we decided we would like a second key if possible. We sent her a text, and Anna came by with another key within 45 minutes. She also cheerfully allowed us to stay long past checkout time on our last day because the apartment was not booked for the following night, which essentially granted us another full day in Paris without hauling around luggage.
If you do stay here, we recommend the little Kurdish restaurant half a block from the apartment on the same street. Lovely little place that also worked well for the vegan in our group. There also is an Italian place where our side street met Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine that we didn't try but must be good because it was constantly packed with locals -- even past 10pm on a Sunday night.
We will absolutely recommend this apartment to anyone we know heading for Paris.
