Ein abgelegenes Appartement in dunkler holpriger Seitenstrasse, eher für Reisende, die Lage und ein abgewohntes Inventar bei niedrigem Preis nicht stört.

I really didn't want to give or get a bad review, but not sure what else to do. We checked in around 5. During check in we were asked for a cash deposit. This was not a security deposit done through airbnb but cash directly to the host. A big red flag. Within an hour we had discovered bugs, dirt, and filth. Cardboard in place of drywall. Spiders nests in the kitchen. We messaged our hosts. We didn't hear back for almost 30 hours by which point we had just left. The response was a personal attack on me. I was called a liar for saying the place was dirty, then, in the next sentence they admitted to knowingly hiring poor cleaning staff. Not sure where to go from there. I tried to come to a resonable solution, offering to pay for one night, airbnb's fee, and a cleaning fee. The host refused and made no attempt to discuss the issue, instead opting for mutual bad reviews. So Ill give them a poor review, not because of the state of the apartment but because of how the host refused to communicate beyond calling me a liar. I hope the host is able to straighten everything out, as the location is great and they did not seem like bad people at all during check in. I am really sorry it came to this. I have photos and correspondence to prove all of this.

Hi there Your review contains even more inaccuracies and untruths than your initial complaint so let`s put the record straight for the benefit of AirBNB guests and other property owners, who should be aware of what you have done. AIRBNB users kindly take note: 1 This guest simply changed his mind about the property and then threatened my wife with bad reviews in his attempt to secure a refund beyond the first night. My wife was in tears after reading his comments as she has worked so hard during a long high season to satisfy guests. 2 The guest walked out of the property without notifying us of any problems and dumped the key in the garage downstairs. It is true that he did message my wife through AirBNB but she was attending a family funeral service in Sierra Bullones where there was no WIFI connection and no phone connection. 3 The guest could have simply dropped the keys off at our shop, 3 minutes walk away from the apartment. He was perfectly aware of the connection as he picked up the keys from there in the first place. It was his choice to wait an exaggerated 30 hours. He could have had a response in 3 minutes but decided to run off and hide which is very silly and immature behaviour. 4 The accusation that we demanded a cash deposit is a lie. I asked ( not demanded) for 1,000 pesos damage deposit as at first I though he was a guest from another agency which requires a deposit. I asked my wife about it in the guests presence and our request for a damage deposit was withdrawn. The inference that we were trying to cheat and scam him is a disgusting exaggeration and he should be ashamed 5 The guest lied to AirBNB by alleging that we had construction workers working at the apartment but when challenged to produce evidence of this he backed off and I note that this is not included in his review. Another lie. 6 There were some cleaning issues with the apartment. We had a quick turnover of guests and although the guest has exaggerated to obtain a refund it is true that it had not been cleaned to the normal standard. His allegation that we knowingly employ useless Filipino Cleaners is another lie. What I actually said to him is that we do have problems sometimes with the standard of cleaning with local cleaners. Perhaps he would have preferred that we employ cleaners from the USA and fly them over here? Any problems with cleaning could have been pointed out to us immediately and we would have fixed. He is simply making up false allegations in his attempt to secure a refund. Well done Air BNB for supporting us property owners when we deserve to be supported. Thank you. David

They also own a great cafe near the unit with delicious coffee and food. Unit was definitely walkable to shops, nightlife and restaurants near Alona beach. The side street leading to the unit was very rough, uneven gravel. Unit was fine, clean, but outdated/torn furniture. Wifi was unreliable but is likely due to the Philippines in general having spotty service. I tethered to my mobile data and was fine.

I had a lovely time. Its a very private unit and its like a home away from home. I would stay again for a short trip to panglao. It's pretty clean and has a cozy touch to it. You can come and go as you please without disturbing anyone.
