Adventurers welcome! Stay here & help fund our renovation work as we bring this abandoned 1930s mansion back to life! House is RUSTIC & a WORK IN PROGRESS so be prepared. This private room comes with a King bed and clean sheets & fresh towels. Shared bathroom + shower & toilet. Shared kitchen. Common area Other travelers also here so expect a community vibe! 5-15 mins bike to most top attractions. Perfect for biking explorers. Bikes/gear for $5/day (limited qty).
This is a very small private room with a king bed (Size: 76 in x 80 in). Although the bedroom is private you will need to share the bathroom in our larger sleeping room since this is the only working bathroom at the moment (sorry we're working on that haha). Shared bathroom has a basic shower and toilet. We are actively renovating this place so please know that parts of the house are under construction. There are currently 3 rooms available for booking, one with 4 single beds (shared sleeping room) and 2 private rooms with king beds.
Since other travelers will be staying under the same roof and sharing the same bathroom / kitchen / lounge, the space will have a strong community vibe. It’s a great way to meet people from all around and we’ve made lots of friends while traveling and staying in this type of shared environment. With that being said, if you require more privacy, this is probably not the best place for you but most guests see it as a great way to meet people and embrace the community vibe as part of the adventure.
Guests can access their room and the shared bathroom / kitchen / lounge. The rest of the home is off limits as we are renovating.
Due to our limited funds and intense renovation schedule, we will probably be very busy working on the house and trying to keep things moving forward as quickly as we can. In case you need anything, please send us an AirBNB message and we will be happy to help with anything you need.
We are at the start of our renovation journey here so our space is very rustic now and we want to be open about this. PLEASE GO THROUGH THE PICTURES BEFORE YOU INQUIRE as we want to make sure you know what to expect. Through listing on an early stage, we hope we can provide affordable, cozy and clean accommodation for the right travellers and an opportunity for you to participate in our adventure.
All revenue earned goes straight back into renovation and that is a vital contribution to our very very tight budget. Stay with us and be part of the exciting recovery of our house and Detroit!
- Please try to be quiet after 10PM as people might be sleeping.
- Please be mindful of the during of shower use since the bathroom is shared.
Hello! We’re a fun-loving couple with a passion for food & wine, travel, exploration, music and a whole lot more. Our relationship has spanned the globe and in 2013 we moved from Asia to Detroit after falling in love with the city and its amazing people, beautiful architecture and vibrant history. We’re currently renovating a 1920s mansion turned nursing home in one of Detroit's best up-and-coming neighborhoods and AirBNB has been a great platform to help us fund our continuing renovation work.
Being travelers ourselves we love to visit new places, meet friendly and fascinating people, and experience cultures and cuisines from around the world :)
WHAT BROUGHT US HERE
After driving through Detroit in 2013 we fell in love with the city and its people so we decided to move here. Since 2013 we have been busy saving old houses, removing them from the "demo list" and helping to bring them back to life. We scouted literally every neighborhood in Detroit when we first arrived and we chose this particular neighborhood because of its rich history, great neighbors, and its outstanding natural resources. Convenient river access and proximity to nearby parks makes the location hard to beat and it's really one of the most under-appreciated neighborhoods in the city.
HELP US CONTINUE RESTORATION WORK
All proceeds from AirBNB help us fund our continuing restoration work so each guest brings us one step closer to saving this awesome historic home!
