Imbabura Huasy belongs to the Guatemal-Pupiales family. We are an indigenous family from San Clemente, who work the land and have been receiving visitors from all over the world since 2000 at our home in the San Clemente community. We built this mountain refuge in '13 on the beautiful skirts of Mt. Imbabura as a starting place for hiking and climbing the mountain as well as a get-away for visitors wanting to experience our traditional culture as well as be tucked up high in the magic of Imbabura.
The house uses mostly traditional building techniques and materials such as adobe, rocks, wood, straw and 'bareque'. We have a bathroom that uses water and a composting toilet. There is no electricity, but plenty of sunlight during the day and candlelight for the evening. The two showers have gas for heating. We are set at 3,400mts above sea level. Making this resting place a good acclimatization base camp for other travels as well as enjoying some of the most beautiful views. On clear days you can see as far as Colombia. We nestled amongst the high farm land of Imababura. We provide a beautiful communal space, a large fire place, two individual sleeping rooms and a large third room for floor mats and sleeping bags.
Visitors are invited to feel at home.
